WELCOME to all walkers!
The August Walk Challenge is right around the corner, so now is the time to be thinking about our new monthly challenge goals!
Having Leslie's, or other walking DVDs, to pop in the player continues to be a great alternative to walking outdoors in the heat, and for some of us that means triple digit heat . Because of the warmer weather walking or hiking outdoors might well be a pleasant alternative to the DVDs for those who enjoy getting their miles or minutes outdoors and have the opportunity to do so during the cooler part of the day/ evening.
This group is open to any and all walkers. The majority of us use Leslie Sansone Walk At Home DVD workouts, as well as those great walks or hikes outside on the trails or pathways that are available to us, or a walk in our neighborhood, and on the treadmill, as well as other Walking DVDs. All of these many options count toward our miles and minutes. However you get your walk in, come on in and join us! Post your miles or minutes that you have walked, however you did it... it is all good!
We are a happy, supportive group, and I promise that joining this walk challenge will motivate, challenge, as well as inspire you!
Set your goal for how many miles or minutes that you want to walk, indoors or out, this month. This is your own personal goal . Post your results daily, weekly, or whenever you like.
If you find this challenge in the middle of the month it doesn't matter which day of the month that you join in. Just set your goals to reflect what you want to walk for the remaining days in the month. You are always welcome !
So if you are new to the group please feel free to start today so that by the end of the month you will be that much closer to your health goals. It is never too late to join in
Tie up those walking shoes and get some water, and let's start walking !
It is always fun to read which DVD, whether Leslie or another instructor, that you used. Or whatever form your walk took, whether outdoors or on the treadmill or anything in between. We all could use some new inspiration sometimes, or inquiring minds sometimes just want to know . So please share if you would care to . (pretty please )
Come on in and let's start walking the Monthly Walk Challenge together. I know that I say this each month but I am truly grateful for each one of our precious walkers who continue to inspire and motivate mile by mile, and step by step, each month.
I know that we are all excited to see our long time faithful walking friends join us for yet another amazing month together, and we are awaiting the opportunity to welcome newcomers to this month's Walk Challenge!
So now... let us lace up those walking shoes and remember to get our water... while we begin to walk into August of 2016!
Let us walk with determination

Retirement presents itself with challenges. Very easy to procrastinate and that is why I have made a very ambitious list for August, but the paperwork parts have to be done as they have deadlines looming in September and I really want to be ahead of the game instead of pulling all nighters like I have previously.
First on the schedule in the morning will be - walk my dog.
Have a great month everyone!!3 -
I was not very ambitious last month since I was not sure how much walking I would do. Silly me for forgetting how much running one does with a 2 year-old in the house! However, I have gained some weight and it must go, so this month, I am going for 4 miles a day or 124 for the month!
August goal: 4 miles/day or 124 for the month

I'm upping my miles to 85. I have a new thought to help me get more exercise in. I'm going to actually list it in my calendar so I can plan for it and schedule it and the type of exercise to do. Today was Workout @ the YMCA. Tomorrow I've got an appointment with our girl Leslie.2

What a day yesterday!!! Started out with my walk because I thought I wouldn't get my steps in.... ended up mowing around the granaries and then had to walk 2 miles home really fast because I was late getting ready to go golfing. Used a golf cart but I wasn't driving so I always get more steps in than the driver ..lol!!
Exhausted.... I will walk my dog this morning but I think after that there won't be anything extra added..... except pack up DH and send him off salmon fishing for 5 days!!
Have a great day today everyone2 -

Please do not feel bad. You do what you can do and do not compare yourself to anyone else. Only one thing that I ask....you keep moving and you challenge yourself.
I am pushing myself...I have been stuck on a plateau for almost a year and I retired in July so I can now make the miles... and I have 2 trips to the city this month so I want to reach my goal early.
Take care ...1 -
@debbieinca I have been a slug all summer with the heat and working extra it's just I now have added incentive to make this young man eat his words. My mantra has always been slow and steady. Just take it one day at a time and never give up.1

Well, I am a little far off goal for sure! I have been cleaning and getting my house back in order after the whirlwind that is my 2-year old granddaughter went home. Between that and keeping up with my 2 online classes, I have not racked up many miles! It sure seems like all this cleaning and running up and down stairs should add up to more miles than it does. :grumble: I need to finish cleaning today (it's raining so no hiking) and then head for the mountains and increase my miles on Monday!
Walk Strong Everyone! :bigsmile:0 -
36/100 I'm tired today was going to push for another walk but now I'm thinking maybe not.1

I thought it was going to be a rest day... but still had to mow some grass with the push mower. Much cooler so it was easier to be outside and do yard work.
Today it is trying to rain, so will put on my raincoat and head out to walk my dog. Then I better get at my desk.... DH will be home from fishing tomorrow night and it should be cleaned up before he comes along and disturbs my piles !!1 -
