Fitbit and bulking

I'm not sure what I'm asking here, but I'm posting anyway. I set mfp to gain 10lbs. Then I set my Fitbit the same way. Quickly saw that this seems pointless though because fitbits don't make adjustments/give calorie estimates for gaining weight.

That being said, I'm confused as to what my Fitbit is good for right now. Has anyone used one while bulking?

I used it while pregnant and while it's not the same thing just was there to keep me active I didn't sync it to MFP or maybe things would have got confusing. I would just use it for fun as an activity tracker and to make sure you are fueling adequately... basically the more you move... the more you eat to maintain your surplus. Eventually you will probably see a pattern as the calorie counts may not be exact.

You can just set your fitbit for no weight loss and just use it to send exercise burn to mfp while using mfp's suggestion on what to eat. MFP is telling you how much to eat for BMR plus the gain, fitbit is just giving you how much extra you will need to eat on top of that. Keep it going just ignore fitbit's calorie suggestion but use it for calorie burn.

What you both say makes perfect sense. Seems like it doesn't matter whether Fitbit is set to maintain or gain though, because it changes nothing for gaining anyway, right? Weird.....

Correct - no matter the setting on Fitbit for weight loss/maintain/gain (which I'm surprised you found a maintain - they must have changed that) - that doesn't change the fact they send your daily calorie burn so far to MFP to do math with. Steps too, but no math on that.

Not really weird though, per the way it works. MFP is merely looking to correct it's estimate of daily calories burned based on your selection of possibly wrong activity level and possibly not logging exercise correctly.

You will need to manually log your lifting on Fitbit's site though as Weights for better accuracy if you want to bulk.
Obviously slow weight gain by expected amount will tell the tale too.

Oh no....I didn't find anything special with Fitbit as far as maintenance. Honestly, I didn't pay attention to it that closely but rather found my maintenance number on my own. I didn't trust anything when it came to me gaining any of the weight back, so I really didn't notice that Fitbit didn't change.

I WAS interested to see what it would do as far as my bulk however, so that's when I finally noticed. No biggie. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.
