I have about 50lbs to lose, HATE cardio! I used to lift heavy and was in great shape.... that was before I got a desk job, married, and had two kids! Eek!
So how do others do this and lose weight? Any cardio? NO cardio?

Do you all follow the plan exactly? Just doesn't seem like a lot of exercises to me!

And I'll be lifting at 5am.... the LAST thing I want to do at 445 am is eat! Is it ok to lift on an empty stomach and then have my protein after?

Any other ladies lose weight when doing this as their program? I'm starting at 215.

I train on an empty stomach first thing in the morning, and eat right after the gym. If for some reason I wake up very hungry, I'll have a carby snack before going to the gym, or drink some chocolate milk.

If you are working at the edge of your capacity, it's quite a workout. I used to do 30-60 min of cardio 2-3 days a week on non-lifting days, but I stopped because I needed the recovery time. I now go to the gym just three times a week, spend a bit over an hour lifting, and it's plenty of exercise for me.

This is probably a stupid question, but how does it take you over an hour to do three routines 5x5? Do you take a longer recovery in between sets or are you doing other weights in addition to this program?

I've only done this once so far, and even with testing different weights out to find my starting weight, it took me thirty minutes tops.

I do a 5 min general warm-up before starting, and specific warm-ups before each lift. So you end up doing more than 5 sets of each lift--I just checked my exercise diary, and the last workout was 14 sets. If you allow 5 min per set+rest, it's 70 min, or 56 min if you reckon it takes 4 min.

As the weight on the bar increases, you need more time between lifts, so your session might get longer as you progress.

    That makes sense, thank you.
