I'm trying to work out my stride length. I walked 510m in 598 steps, and I'm 155cms tall. I worked out that my walking stride length is 85cms, does that sound right?
Can anyone help me work this out?

(510m * 100 cm/m) / 598 steps = 85.3 cm/step
Pretty simple calculation - you don't need height when you have distance and step count.
You want to make sure those are "normal" steps - not a shuffle, not a power walk, just your normal stride.
For running, of course, you have to do a whole new calculation.0 -
I calculated my stride the same way a few days ago. I went out on a 4.52k walk (with GPS so it's definitely accurate) and then I did (4520m * 100 cm/m) / 5457 steps = 82.82 cm/step
Completely different from Fitbit recommended for my height.0 -
Can someone please help me with this? I've done 3583 steps and 2.81kms, and my numbers aren't coming out right when i times and divide the numbers.
This is what I'm getting: 2.81 times 100 = 281, divided by 3583 = 0.078 cm

@Christine_72: You've got your units confused. You don't get centimeters by multiplying kilometers by 100. You get centimeters by multiplying meters by 100. You get meters by multiplying kilometers by 1000.
2.81 km * 1000 m/km * 100 cm/m = 281000 cm
281000 cm/ 3583 steps = stride length of 78.4 cm
If you always put your units in your equation, and make sure they cancel out properly, you'll avoid a lot of mistakes.0 -
