Things I learned at my last doctor's visit: 1) I want a new doctor, 2) Bedside manner must be a lost art.
So, I went last week for an annual with a new doctor that I had never met (My previous doctor, whom I LOVED, left the practice and moved across the country). This is how the introduction went: "Hello, I'm Dr. ..... So you think it's time to try getting pregnant? Well, you really just need to lose weight. Nothing will happen for you until you shed some pounds." All in the most condescending tone you could imagine. I wanted so bad to respond with something along the lines of "thank you for enlightening me on the fact that I'm overweight....I totally forgot." She later informed me that one breast was slightly larger than the other one. In my head..."OMG, thank you for pointing that out! I haven't noticed SINCE I WAS 12!"
I don't know. Maybe I'm being oversensitive, but with those words being the first thing out of her mouth, I was on edge immediately. I can discuss my weight issues with someone who is sensitive to my feelings and maybe tries to build a little rapport with me first. Never in the entire appointment did she ask anything about me personally. I went in there hoping to discuss options for me with PCOS hanging over my head. I was so upset after the first five minutes that I didn't even want to ask any questions...I wanted to get the heck out of there. So needless to say, I will not be returning to her. Ever. Thanks for listening. EndRant.

So many doctor's that suck at having good bedside manners! Girl I feel your pain...I also am tired of doctors not knowing jack! Yesterday I also had an appointment with my regular doctor and I told her that I wanted a referral to a special womans clinic since they only deal with womans health...she gave me the referral but not before saying "well you know that the only treatment for PCOS is metformin and losing weight" ....... mean while I was thinking to myself "ya but maybe they will have some kind of better idea of helping me.! I hope you find a better doctor!0
