Considering getting a Garmin instead.

I've only had a Surge since Feb 2016 but already my second one is failing. The plastic came away from the staple on both versions and now the latest is blistering all over. If all they can offer is a 25% discount then sorry it's bye bye fitbit and hello garmin.

I've been with them since 2013 but this could be the end of the road for me.

One thing that always bothered me about the Surge was its one-piece construction, an absolutely brain-dead design approach for a device of its type in my opinion. Band breaks and you have to replace the whole thing. What genius came up with that idea? That said, I have been wearing a Flex for about three years now and have been generally happy with it. Recently I decided I wanted more functionality. Being generally happy with Fitbit, I was looking at upgrading to a Charge 2 or Blaze. Ultimately however I went with the Garmin Vivoactive HR, mainly because of its cycling capabilities (working with ANT+ sensors etc.).

I've only been using it about a week now so I'm not quite ready to give an unqualified recommendation, but so far I'm generally very happy with it.
