Hi Elizabeth! Glad to see this little group and hopefully it grows with other survivors! I was diagnosed with breast cancer back in late April and now done with surgery and radiation. I am taking tamoxifen now for the next 10 years :) I have been doing low carb for about 1 year now and it has certainly helped me during treatment and afterwards. No weight gain at least :) and my blood sugar I feel is pretty even all the time. I don't get the shakes from low sugar or cravings to eat carbs.

Good luck with your dr's appt tomorrow. I hope it goes well!

Thanks Carlsoda! For the most part I am finding this easy -- over on protein today. Need to get a scale I think !

Today is challenging i am not really hungry but smells get to me. My daughter wants to treat me to dinner! I know i can find things to eat there but I wasn't planning this so i will be over on protein for this plan! If it was regular keto be ok. But I really want to hang out with her. So I will try! I know they have a salad bar . Avoid the protein.

I noticed I am cold a lot, even when it is hot in the house. I suspect mine is more to do with radiation and drugs I am on now. Wool socks help :)

Good idea wool socks! My pre op went good vials were good! I was talking to the RN. Cause I told her i know the grade but not the stage? Wish I had hoped to know by now.

She says what a good surgeon I have which is encouraging! But goes your cancer won't know till open you up cause uterine cancer is one of those that spreads all over. I am like good.

So now praying for good everything-- cancer to not spread all over and to be at a treatable point. At same time trying not to worry just stay positive!

@carlsoda Do you work out? I need to I go to our local Y. Won't be able to get in the pool but I can walk the track.

Yes I work out at home, yoga, lots of walking and currently doing a little physical therapy. When is your surgery? Sounds like you have a great surgeon, whew!! :)

I notice the last couple days I was really hungry . I would do things drink more water or make myself green tea something hot helped. I look at calories i had room to add food but I am already eating too much protein for this plan. I am ok with it since I have surgery Monday.

So I looked and decided to add a snack. Think I figured out how to keep carbs low and protein.

Today was hard all I want with something really sweet.

Heading to Fred Meyers get some food..

    Than friends nice relaxing day.

Trying not to stress about Monday. I am confident the surgery will go well. Than information to come will tell me the course of action that I need to follow.

Hi Elizabeth, I was on vacation last week with no cell service. Monday will be just fine, you have a great doctor and get that dang cancer out of your body. When I started tamoxifen (for breast cancer) one of the risks albeit very small is uterine cancer. My surgeon told me its one of the easiest to remove and hardly ever spreads. I am wishing that for you :) Have fun today!

Today has been trying to pretend tomorrow is just any other day! But it isn't! It is a beginning, it is the ________ to fill in the questions as to what is next?

Someways it has been our normal Sunday too! Football is on, spending time with the family and being at church.

Had dinner later than normal which is ok since not eating anything after midnight surgery is at 10:20 am. Not sure how long it will be. Guess will know tomorrow!

Got my bag packed! I originally had the first surgery slot! But move to 10:20.

Going to go hang out with my family now!

So surgery went well, Doctor is very encouraging! Lab results will be in by end of the week. So further instructions to come. I am going home soon.

The good thing by the time I ate last night I was able to eat a very nice chef salad it fit right into ketogenic,
Breakfast was a spinach omelette just like what I make at home. Coffee

Lunch a spinach salad it was good. There sides lack what I should eat so grab a sf gelatin. I know it isn't on the keto but I am feeling I should eat something.

So encouraged I could still be on plan. I am encouraged and positive but will save the happy dance till end of the week.

    I. Thought do i stop ketogenic than no i don't I don't have answers yet besides i have type 2 diabetes that numbers are suborn I half to get this and my weight under control. There is no such thing as I once had cancer it is always with you! It is a wake up call.

Your eating was very good - great job staying on plan! At the moment when you don't have a lot of control with food, I think it's ok to give yourself a little leeway, but not too much. It's too hard to get back on the program once you go off. So glad surgery is over and it went well. You did have a good doctor. Hope each day you feel better and better!!

Today went well! Morning was rough. But I decided if I can handle it to just take Advil and acetaminophen. Go back and forth. The side effect of the pain medicine the doctor sent me home with was making me uncomfortable. So far I have been ok.

Diet coming together again. Our budget is tight till I get paid Friday. So managing with less. I have been working really hard to stick to organic. But I may need to jump into the non organic food. Lol. A friend brought over subway sandwiches for the family. I know she thought I was crazy when I took the veggies and meat off the bread. I put it on top of some fresh spinach made a nice salad.

Walking was mostly shuffling around the house. Did get out and did an errand. That was a little hard. But it was nice to get outside .

    Lot of phone calls!

That has been my day overall. Not exciting but not bad either for my 2nd day after surgery.

    Wishing everyone the best !

Today was a bit harder. Got up and started doing things over did it. So hang out in the recliner frustrating when you can see things that need to be done. A friend brought dinner grateful helps me feed my family. She brought Costco roasted chicken, and rolls I won't eat, but they can. She brought the bag to make Asian salad . So glad it was still in the mix I can just put that together and take a helping of it before adding the dressing. There is always a way to do things.

I have been staying away from the prescription pain medicine but today maybe a need to do it. We will see!

It's funny how we always overdue it after surgery or an injury. Just remember you had pretty major surgery so you need to take it slow for quite a while. Re-read your discharge papers :)

Today I had my yearly physical. Weight is good, blood pressure fantastic 112/70, and I had my blood sugar and lipid blood work done (fasting). I should see those results later next week. I've been eating low carb since September 2015, so it will be really interesting to see the results. I have a little sugar/carbs here and there, but really hardly any. My goal now is to review my numbers and just keep doing what I'm doing as long as I don't gain the weight back!

Today is an overcast day but the weather is still pretty mild for this time of year.

@Carlsoda I will be interested in hearing about your results too. I struggle with type 2 diabetes besides the other. So getting my sugar under control is important.

I have been able to not eat desserts, candies any thing with sugar flour junk. Staying away from breads too any carbs except what is in veggies. I am learning so much . It is relearning for years I always thought Whole wheat bread was good for york oatmeal, even sweet potatoes and brown rice. They aren't bad foods but for me they can be.

Lately I have been hungry not for junk food but comfort type foods I think it's because with everything that is how I would comfort myself!

I did get the lab results. It was good!
The cancer was stage 1 not out of the uterus. They took everything ovaries, tubes, plus lymph noids the cancer didn't leave the uterus etc nothing anywhere else. So incredible newss I am extremely grateful! But than the Doctor reminded me about my 3 months check ups. The need to keep sugar low or none. To exercise at Least 3 times a week. All good. But the reality is today is good! But not to be negative cancer has become a part of my thinking. 2 weeks ago I never thought about it.

Congratulations on your results! Such good news! Now they will keep monitoring you to ensure it never comes back!

Is there a particular book you are following based on keto for Cancer patients?

I research the canton diet for ketogenic diet Elaine Canton. She is more strict than some. And doesn't really think you should eat even organic beef more chicken, protein from veggies etc . But she use it get her on cancer under control and her son diabetes. I have found some ketogenic for cancer Dr. Mercola is stricter than regular keto but not as Canton approach. I know for diabetes and getting my sugar under control the glucose I think keto low carbs way to go. I just think doing this the numbers need to be adjusted I am obese. Losing weight is really important but I think once I get moving just do it. I am bloated still from surgery . But swelling is going down. That is a lot of thoughts all over the places

    Goal today
    Log in my food intake

Be out of the house for 8 hours.
    A. Grocery shop for week
    B. Find my daughter a new chair for her bedroom (thrift stores be our friend )

    Mail my Mom's Birthday gift.

Not a terrible busy Saturday. but a good start !

Sunday football is on TV ! Hubby is sleeping ha ha ! Today I made my first lo carb meatloaf. Hoping my family likes it.

Today I feel normal like my old self which is a good thing. House is clean dinner ready for tonight. Little things today it is good.

I belong to this lo carb group on Facebook. After sitting down checking Facebook out the first post was this woman who I don't know but she is near my age. Her weight starting is close to mine and her now picture she is doing great. It just really encouraged me to keep trying !
Tomorrow I will be going to The Y. My goal is to walk around the track at least 2 times. More if I can.

    Have a good Sunday!

Sounds like you are recovering well! Great job! I will look up the two sources on keto diet! My husband just got his blood work back and it wasn't very good. I think we need to tighten up his diet a bit more. They are ready to put him on Statins with a low fat, carb heavy diet. The guy is only 50 and super healthy. I think because he plays with keto is what's messing him up. Need to cut back on more carbs! Hope you have a great day!

I haven't posted for a day or two . Still plugging away on keto. Not sure if that is what I am doing or low carbing it. Have not eaten anything that adds sugar too. No cookies, brownies , candy, breads of any types, no peas, carrots, potatoes, rice , noodles, etc right now I feel I think about food 24:7. I didn't want to think about cancer .

Yesterday I went out to eat this place has a lot of favorites stayed super good dessert came I wanted a brownie . Thought about it wanted to splurge but I stopped myself. I remember why I am doing this one cancer doing what I can to keep it away. Loose weight again helps get or keep away cancer, get off diabetes medicine. Again also helps with the other one.

I am not in a place yet that I can take a break and jump back on. I want to do what I can to be healthy.
