Is anyone here taking more then 37.5mg of phentermine? My doctor is moving me to 1.5 tabs. I do not have the appetite suppression that everyone talks about. I have some - but not much. She is a big fan of dosing this stuff twice a day but I can't imagine taking it in the evening and being able to sleep!

Anyone else on higher doses? How does it feel? When do you take the additional tabs?

I've never taken more than 37.5 mg, but I agree with you, I don't think I'd sleep at all if I took more and later in the day. I have trouble sleeping more than about 6 hours now. Have you tried upping the dose yet?

I did increase the dose. I'm taking 1.5 tablets in the morning only. I already only get about 4hrs of sleep on average so there is no way I will take this later in the day. It does seem to have suppressed my appetite now so that is good. I think this doctor is a little aggressive with her dosing so I'm going to be careful. She's totally fine with someone taking two of these a day and she'll keep people on it for several years if they want. :# I want to go off of it when I hit my 40# loss mark. That will still leave me a good amount to lose but it will be a good kick start. I guess we'll see!

My doctor also has no problem with leaving people on phentermine for years. Too bad insurance only says you can have it for three months. I sure hate having my healthcare dictated by an insurance company. But I'm like you--I'd rather go off of it when I reach a certain point in my weight loss. I already feel like I could probably handle my eating and exercise on my own, but I'm just not feeling brave enough yet.

Humm...I've never heard of the 1.5 tabs; I may have to ask my doc about that at my next check-up!!!

@angie55575 I bought a really good pill splitter (definitely not a cheepie) and just cut them in half at the score mark. I do think 1 1/2 is working well though.

@ronjsteele1, what time do do you take your doses at?

@angie55575 I take the entire thing in the morning around 9:00am. I was taking 1.5 pills and bumped up to 2 pills. I take both of those at the same time. If I were to split that much to AM and PM, I think I'd be up all night! BTW, now that I'm on 75mg I actually have the appetite suppression that everyone has talked about. It occurred to me after I started taking 2 a day that I'm resistant to a lot of meds. I wonder if that's why I didn't have much affect on 1 or 1.5 tabs? It's possible. Even the dentist has to use a ton of novacaine on me for that reason. So, at least I'm finally starting to feel it helping.

My pharmacist sister explained to me that how you react to drugs has to do with the type or number of receptors in your body. I must have a gazillion receptors--every drug I take seems to work overtime! I started taking cholesterol medicine a few years ago when my total cholesterol count was close to 300. Within a few months it was below 150. Pain drugs hit my euphoria center within 20 minutes--so I'm one of those people who has to be careful with them because they make me feel "too" good. Guess it makes sense that my phentermine continues to seem to work full strength even after five months.

Yeah. Drugs don't actually work well on me at all (which was fun when I had major surgery). There's actually a genetic component to mine as well. Funny that we are totally opposite. I'm just glad the stuff is working now!
