Set an alert to get up every hour (how to)

They say sitting for long periods is worse for you than smoking. Standing for 3+ hours a day at work is a good way to help curb the health affects. However, if that may be too difficult or unrealistic, another way to help mitigate the damage is by getting up for 5 minutes every hour to walk around and stretch. Here's a quick guide on how to set an alert on your laptop to remind you to do so:

Thanks Chris; putting the reminder on the computer is a good idea.0

I have heard the same about our eyes! Here's the tip: Every 20 minutes 'look up from your computer' and stare at something 20 yards away for 20 seconds. 20+20+20 for 20/20 vision!0

Agreed! It is not this sitting or standing that is bad for you; it's the being still. If you don't have good posture, standing can actually be worse.0

These are great tips! I like to use an exercise ball at my desk to help with posture. If I slouch, I flip right off the ball!0
