Mfp happy, Fitbit not?

I've seen similar questions to this a few times but never fully resolved. Basically I've noticed almost everyday that mfp says that I'm within my goal once I finish logging my food for the day but Fitbit has me in the red zone. I have the exact same deficit set. Why would this happen? Which should I trust?

I've noticed that. It can be demoralising to see it in red. I tend to go off MFP.

The same happens to me and I think it is because you are not allowed to go below 1200 calories on MFP but Fitbit will allow this. So in my case if I don't do any exercise I may only burn 1500 calories which would mean me going into the red if I consume more than 500 calories whereas MFP expects me to consume the 1200 leaving a deficit of 300 calories not 1000. Hope that makes some sense.

Ah thank you, that sounds possible. Let's see what happens today when I'll do more walking and it should add to my calorie allowance.

I have just reduced my calorie allowance this week to try and lose a few pounds.

    I'll let you know

What time you stop logging your food for the day and observe that depends big time?
    What time was it?

Because Fitbit and MFP both use different methods to estimate the full day burn, and therefore where your eating level falls in the scheme of your goals can be very different.
The end of the day will end up the same at midnight though.

And then the activity level you have set on MFP matters, and if you have Fitbit set to sedentary (which is well below MFP's sedentary) or customized daily burn.

Usually it's best to NOT attempt to follow 2 roads to the same destination - it'll be full of aggravation and confusion.

Use Fitbit for activity based things, MFP for food based things.

And hope the 2 really do sync correctly together.

    ^^^^This^^^^

It's 2:30pm here and as of this minute Fitbit is telling me I've reached my calorie limit and MFP says i still have 461 calories left to eat. But they always end up closely matching up by midnight.

Also agree with following MFP for calories in and Fitbit for calories out.
