No gain for 3 weeks...does that seem weird?
For those with lower gains so far, I'm curious what your goals are and why? Sometimes everything in pregnancy feels so arbitrary (ie. the 25-35 lb recommended gain for people from 4 ft to 6 ft pretty much) I wonder if your dr. is saying something else or if it's personal preference. No judgement either way (it's your body and your baby!) I'm just nosy
@MrsNorris & rachael116- for me personally, I am just shooting toward the low end of my recommended weight gain, which is 25 lbs. I don't want to gain any unnecessary fat. I'm not really working out anymore, and I'm honestly not eating a perfect diet. I try to walk as often as possible, and I try to eat as many healthy meals as possible. For the most part though, I'm just listening to my body and going with the flow.
You're right- it does seem weird that almost everyone has the same "recommended weight gain" amounts. Our bodies are SO different!0 -

For my height and weight I am considered morbidly obese (started this pregnancy at 225-227 and I am 5ft) so my doctor does not want to see me gain over 11 pounds and he fine with me losing or maintaining just as long as I don't gain over the 11 pounds... I am not exercising I am just eating intuitively and just eating when I am hungry vs bored or when others tell me to eat more cause I am eating for two... I lost weight for most of this pregnancy - will be 30 weeks Friday and now maintaining/ gaining... some days I see a gain then I go right back down lol today I weighed 217.6 ( the lowest I got this pregnancy was 213.8)... I will do my official weigh in on Friday...0 -

I was one of those people, and the I just wanted a cushion because I know the baby is going to grow a lot in the third trimester. And look, my latest weigh in reflects that! :P My original goal was to stay under 200, but I would love to deliver in the 180s.0 -

Good question! I've been stunned (and honestly, felt a bit bad about myself!) coming into this group and seeing so little weight gain! It's hard not to feel like, "wait! What am I doing wrong?" I couldn't imagine just putting on a few pounds!
I gained a full 40lbs with my first two pregnancies and was completely prepared for it with my third (especially being 5 years older. My metabolism isn't what it was in my 20s.) My midwife 'okayed' it back at the beginning of my pregnancy, but even if she hadn't, there really isn't a darned thing I could have done to keep the weight off! I'm astounded that so many can 'control' their weight like that! I've learned by now that my body needs the extra weight during pregnancy in order to fulfill the demands of breastfeeding.

For me, I feel like 15 lbs at 30 weeks is a great number. IF (and that's a big IF) I can stick to a pound a week from now on, I'll hit my target of 25 lbs. I guess we will see.

Happy to have survived Thanksgiving without gaining any weight! I had a few very high calorie days but lately I haven't been as hungry as usual and have been under my calorie goals. I'm actually stunned with how little I've gained overall but considering I've gained 10.8 pounds in essentially 8 weeks that makes me feel like I've been gaining too fast. My end goal is 170, which would be 30 pounds. With my first pregnancy I started higher and hit 170 at 33 weeks, was totally swollen and couldn't get my rings on anymore. I felt huge and ugly and just kept getting bigger so I want to try and eliminate that feeling this time. It definitely seems like I am on track if I still have 20 pounds of wiggle room and only 11 weeks left.0 -

With my first pregnancy, I started at 135lb and gained 45lb. Within two weeks of labor I had lost 30lb. I was still working off those last 15lb when #2 showed up though I didn't know it until near the end of the first trimester which happened to also be when I finally reached my original pre-preg weight. So even though it's technically not my starting weight, I've been basing my total weight gain off of 135lb rather than 144lb. So I would say that I'm up 26 pounds with only 3-5 weeks to go!0 -
25 weeks pregnant as of yesterday and currently weigh 128.4. My starting weight was 115 so I'm sitting at a 13 1/2 pound weight gain. I'm getting induced at 38 weeks so I have 13 more weeks to keep weight gain slow and steady LOL. We will see..........0

I don't know what happened! I gained nearly 2.5 lbs in one week! I am a little swollen, so I'm trying to consume a ton of water this week. I hope I don't spin out of control these last few months!0 -

I started tracking my calories again at 26 weeks after I was gaining too much too fast and now I seem to have stalled. I had a doctor's appointment today and she is unconcerned saying weight gain comes in spurts but it just feels like I should be higher at this point. I am much smaller with this pregnancy than I was with my first. With my first I had already gained 20 pounds and was consistently gaining 1.8-2 pounds a week. Plus my belly was about 2.5 inches bigger around. I have my calories set to gain a half pound a week and I often go over when I'm hungry so I'm not too concerned, I guess I'm just shocked. I didn't track calories last pregnancy and I suppose that's the difference.0 -

I am packing on the pounds, my friends! Had a 32 week ultrasound yesterday. Average weight for 32 week baby is 2.5-3.8 pounds. Our little guy was measuring 4 lbs, 13 oz! That's huge! I hope I don't have a 9 pound baby!!! Anyone else know the appx weight of your little one? I'm just curious. I know their estimates can be off a bit, as well.0 -

I meant to post earlier but forgot! At 37 weeks I'm up 30 lbs according to the midwife's scale. I started at 130 lbs and am now 160 lbs and 5'2. While I'm still in the healthy range and am likely to deliver short of 35 lbs with only 3 weeks remaining, I am hoping that some of this weight is just Christmas fluff that'll either go away now that I've resumed normal eating habits or at least that I won't gain more than a lb or too. At this point I guess it's not the end of the world, but I'm rather short and don't want to take on any more weight then necessary.0

Starting weight was 115 @ 5'4. Today I am 30 weeks pregnant and weigh 133.6. So 18.6 pounds gained so far. Dropped a little from last week but baby looked great and weighed 3 pounds 3 ozs I'm trying to cut out alot of junk but can't kick my nightly bowl of ice cream, its my happy place LOL0

At 38 weeks i'm sitting at 160 lbs for a grand total of 30 lbs gained @ 5'2. I was hoping to be closer to the 25 lb mark, but as this is my last weigh-in ( the babe comes Monday!) And my overall level of discomfort has gone up so much, I don't really care Christmas was definitely a killer for weight gain but other than that I stuck to about one lb a week. I'll be happy to drop the weight though once the little one is out, this is the heaviest I've ever been and I've really noticed the toll it takes.

31 weeks pregnant today starting weight was 115 @ 5'4. Currently weigh 134.2, so 19.2 pounds gained so far. Gained 1/2 pound since last week but I'm battling water retention bad! I keep gaining 2-3 pounds overnight anytime I eat anything with salt, so as long as I watch my salt intake everything else seems to be gaining appropriately LOL. Good luck go everyone! I have 7 weeks left before I am induced so hopefully I can stay around 25 pounds gained this time.0

My weight from Saturday to Tuesday was 160.8. Not fabulous but acceptable. Woke up Wednesday for my "official" weigh in and I was 161.2, what??!!! Thursday I was down to 159.8 (normal eating Wednesday, wasn't trying to lose weight). So I'll keep track of my "official" weight but hopefully next week gives me the same number and it was just a bad morning of water retention and constipation. 5 more weeks (+/-) getting excited for the end!0 -
