Calorie count vrs macro percentages

What has brought you more success calorie counting or staying within your Macro percentages? In my experience calorie counting can be mentally tough and cause you to lose the wrong type of weight. Remember that muscle needs fuel. As you go along, fuel yourself properly to get the look you are truly going for.
