Since we originally started as a weight loss group, let's talk weight loss stuff for a moment.
What are you making/taking to the feast this week?
What are a couple of your best tips to stay true to you over the holiday?

After a little fanagling, we worked it out so that I can bring a few things to the meal. Sheesh. Certain family members really need to relax a little.
So, I'm making my green bean casserole, orange/pomegranate salad, and mashed potatoes. I do those a bit different ...
My green bean casserole = 12 cans green beans (drained) + 3 cans cheddar soup (much stronger than mushroom soup so I don't use as much, and my family likes it WAY better) + french fried onions (I bake a few on top, but then an extra pan of them for those people who want more).
Orange/Pomegranate salad = 6 large cans mandarin oranges in their own juice (drained) + the fruit of 2 pomegranates + allspice
Mashed Potatoes = lots of yukon gold potatoes (not peeled) + celery root + fat free milk + chicken bouillon + fresh garlic + salt + carmelized diced onions
As for tips, here are a few that I'll use:
* I planned a super-light brunch for our house for before the big meal so that we're not starving when we go. It will be pear slices wrapped in turkey and light cream cheese, an apple salad made with apples + celery + fat free vanilla Greek yogurt + peanut butter powder + cinnamon, and a big bowl of fresh raspberries and blackberries.
* We always do a craft of some sort. This year we're decorating canvas aprons with fabric paint, jewels, ribbons, etc.
This has become a popular tradition in our house each year!
* I have my meals planned out and the groceries already purchased for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so that I'll be back to normal life immediately after the holiday

I use fresh green beans, mushrooms, peppers with a little fat free cream fresh and top with caramelized onions and shaved almonds.
Smoking Turkey on grill, baking 1/2 ham, will fix small amount of dressing, squash casserole, sweet potato casserole topped with pecans (use fat free whipping cream, splenda though there is a little butter and brown sugar mixed with pecans for topping) Fresh cranberry relish.
Gravy is made with toasted flour and broth (toast flour and black pepper in cast iron skillet till light brown stir in broth and little onion powder and poultry seasoning, rue not required.
Not so friendly will be carrot cake and bourbon chocolate pecan pie.0 -
Making?? taking??? Nada, zilch, nichts, we are flying to Minneapolis to join SIL at her place.
Moderation is king. She has already been passed the memo by DW that with all the stuff we don't need dinner rolls. True dat. Will be fun to visit.0 -

Usually I go into Thanksgiving in good shape and just exercise portion control. I am not in good shape this year...I am going to drink a lot of water and skip a lot of the offerings.0

Likewise - since the fire - my WW tracking has been non-existent. I'm up 15# this year - but have intention to return to tracking after the Holidays and getting back on the bus....
Will be busy all day tomorrow - and exercise a modicum of control. I'm a sucker for that Turkey leg and traditional stuffing with gravy (brrrrrp).
VFW also doing dollar drafts - yup, its gonna be a good day!0 -
A $10 bill could get Skip in trouble. Portion control is the key for me with just a hint of pumpkin pie.0

Surely Dennis, ye underestimate me0
