This is where we will come and just let everyone know how we are all doing with the challenge. Or just to share what's on your mind. Recipes, ideas, workouts, anything that you think might be helpful to others. Maybe, you've tried something that has worked for you in the past and would like to share it with the group. Maybe, you have a NSV (Non Scale Victory) that you would like to share with the group. Anything that you feel comfortable sharing or anything that you feel comfortable asking the group with help....this is the place to come.

The GOOD!! What NSV did you have this week!!
The BAD!! So what....you ate the whole thing!!
The UGLY!! That darn scale went through the window this week....it deserved it too!!

What's on your mind today??

Thanksgiving was an epic fail. I practiced portion control and everything in moderation.. did not work. I know that I have no control when it comes to breads, desserts, all that. Not to mention how bloated and sick I feel afterwards. Now I know better. Thanks for the vent!

I feel your pain. It started out well for me, I even planned some treats in my daily calories. Those treats turned into more...I didnt exercise as I should for them and I didnt log for 2 whole days. The scale went up by 1.5lbs and it was justified!

The GOOD!! What NSV did you have this week!!
After a long bout of back and forth and falling in and out of old bad habits, this week I am finishing up a week of a SELF challenge that I started and am quite pleased with the results! Need to tweak some of the guidelines I laid out for myself, but SO FAR SO GOOD!

The BAD!! So what....you ate the whole thing!!
I haven't had too much bad this week other than a couple of minor things like not getting enough sleep, being too busy and tired to make and eat dinner last night and not getting up early enough this morning to get all my stuff done! I rushed and forgot to add Flaxseed meal to my morning smoothie AND forgot to re-fill and bring my water to work with me :astonished: Luckily my awesome Hubby brought them to me

The UGLY!! That darn scale went through the window this week....it deserved it too!!
I would have to say the UGLY for me is the fact that I am 6 days into this kickstart and I still haven't MADE time to workout as planned. I'm hoping today is the day and if not, Thursday, December 1st, I am DEFINITELY starting back at a gym that I join for 6 months out of the year, they have a Cardio Boxing class that I love!

    What's on your mind today??
Today I feel a bit run down and tired and may possibly be feeling a twinge of congestion in my sinus, so what's on my mind is REALLY not wanting to get sick!! I'm gung-ho for this much needed change and challenge, so getting sick would really throw a wrench in things! I'm going to go to bed early tonight and maybe take some extra vitamins and think positive!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE TOMORROW IS DAY 1!!

I have been going to the gym every morning before work for about 3 months and today is the first day that I didn't make it in. I was definitely feeling week at the gym yesterday and I felt like I could be coming down with something, so I am taking it easy today. I feel a little guilty, but we all need a bit of a break sometimes. I feel like it's better to listen to your body than push it beyond it's limits and suffer the consequences. I have my staff X-mas party tomorrow, so I'll have to be extra careful to watch my calories. I'll be back in the gym tomorrow morning after my mini-break today.

I have a question for you all. I typically either grab food from the cafeteria we have at work, but I get tired of the same offerings and go out a couple times a week. I try to make healthy(ish) choices but that is really hard. What are some of your go to options when you have to pick up lunch?

@EmilyCowlard2016 Dear Emily, Nobody should work out hard every day!! A hard day should be followed by either an easy day or what is often called a "Long/Slow" Day. Sometimes due to health or just having overdone it...you should rest!!!

@shutterbuggg, they aren't that cheap, but the Starbucks salads with half of the dressings are a good lunch option if you don't have time to make one.

@Shutterbugg most places nowadays it seems have some healthy choices sections in their menus, plus every place I've been will do it your way if you ask, for example my husband and I like to eat out a lot and usually when I order the Prime Rib I tell them I don't want any starch, half the time they will ask if I want extra veggies and I tell them no just the regular amount. Or I tell them no veggies at all and ask for a side salad. While they may roll their eyes behind your back, who cares!? You are paying for what you want so ASK for it  Still like others have said probably the best control is to bring your lunches. Even if I have to prep on the weekends and grab it and go during the week, it enables me to know a little more precisely (although I am not ever 100% accurate) what is in everything and log it properly.

Hi guys - I wanted to share my victory today as I just squeaked into the normal BMI range. I'm actually really excited about this. It's somewhat related to a "scale victory" so it's not a total NSV, but it's really nice to see things going in the right direction!

Hi Rick, I like getting in a good workout before work since I sit in front of a computer all day. I feel like an hour in the gym can make up for my sedentary lifestyle the rest of the day. I've recently read that an hour of exercise is recommended if you sit for 8 hours a day. See the article here:

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/health/physical-activity-sitting-1.3695954

Thanks for the advice though! I appreciate it as well as your concern for my health :)

@EmilyCowlard2016 Congratulations for your normal BMI victory. The UAC is a great place to stay committed to doing the thoughtful things that will help you stay healthy. I am very happy for you and you should be proud!
@Shutterbuggg Until 4 years ago, I went out to lunch almost every weekday. When I started taking a lunch everyday, I had to work into the habit. After about 60 days, I had all of the appropriate lunchtime accessories. My wife and I bought the appropriate foods and I have been carrying my lunch to work almost everyday. I even carry my lunch when I have an all staff lunch brought in. I had a carry in lunch yesterday while there was a lunchtime meeting with a bunch of bigwig tax lawyers for whom we provided Panera box lunches. There lunches with chips, cookie and high calorie sandwich probably 'weighed in' at 800-1200 calories. My lunch was 480 and just as delicious.

@EmilyCowlard2016 wow that's amazing getting to your healthy BMI! Keep up the great work. How much more are you aiming to lose or are you maintaining!

@Shutterbuggg it's hard! Whatever is marketed as a healthy option is hard to find and never as healthy as home made. Sadly when I go for the easy grab lunch option I have to then be extra good with the other meals eg breakfast or lunch and keep calories down there. Good luck!

@RangerRickL , that's an inspiring lunch story. Thank you! Good to remember that even salads from those places are full of calories. I am worried about today, because it's a teacher work day, and, as much as I love the time to actually prep., I am always daunted by the food people bring in on these days to share. I have a plan though! Have a great day, everyone!

Hi am_change - I'm still trying to loose another 10 pounds and then maintain and work on recomp to drop body fat percentage. But that will be another longer term goal. I think the next 10 lbs will probably take a while to loose.

    the GOOD
I am on day 11 of my own Kickstart a Comeback Challenge and day 5 of the UACD16! I'm on track, I'm sticking to my menu plans, I'm working out everyday at least 20 minutes, I'm JUST DO-ing IT! YAY!

    the BAD
In doing my challenge I'm finding that sometimes if I don't take time out to prepare something or I get to busy, I'm just not eating or I skip a meal...this is SO NOT A GOOD IDEA! Because of the type of menu I am doing right now, it can be hard just to get the calories I need for the day, I REALLY need to try harder to take the time to EAT...Never thought I'd be saying that! :open_mouth:

    the UGLY
I bought an ugly Christmas party sweater with some matching ugly Christmas leggings and then didn't wear them or even go to the party...GASP!

    On my mind today...
that I REALLY need to make a move on what I am going to do for Christmas presents this year...UGH! I have an idea, but wanted to add a creative perhaps crafty element and with only 20 days left until Christmas, I just don't know if it's going to happen.... :disappointed:

WE'RE ON DAY 5 PALZ! WOO-HOO!! HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

@prgirl39mfp you are smart I think for incorporating treats. I have found in the past that if I just take a treat without planning for it my brain thinks that I screwed up anyway...might as well go all out. I end up going way over that way. If I plan for it, I can enjoy it and still stay in control. That venti skinny mocha with no whip is *so* worth it to me!

I'm having a hard time this month with too many treats in the office and not enough self-control on my part. Usually I'm okay with my diet, but with so much temptation in my life things are getting out of control. I'm pretty much at the point where I will be happy to maintain weight this winter and then try to loose weight again in the spring. Feeling a little discouraged and guilty for all the chocolate I've been eating! The good news is that I'm still going to the gym before work, so that's going well. My diet needs to get back on track though, and with more holliday feasting to come, I'm not sure if it's going to happen for me in the next little while. At least the holidays don't last forever.

    The good.
I am on Day 20 of my Kickstart a Comeback Challenge I've lost 6.5 pounds  and I am on Day 14 of the UACD16 and things are going AMAZINGLY well especially considering it is the holidaze! I've also noticed I simply FEEL so much better and seem to have enough energy to get to moving everyday even if it is just some leisurely walking!

    The bad.
I may have to take my second PASS day on Friday because at work I have a holiday lunch potluck AND then one of my Besties is having her birthday on Friday, so I'm taking her out to dinner! Even if I raise my calories goal for the day, I would hate to come in short on it by accident. I will still exercise and log everything, but... I guess the plus side is that at least I know all this in advance and can plan accordingly to stay on top of things. I just feel kinda crummy about it because like a few have mentioned this is ALSO my healthiest holiday season EVER! Maybe I'll just up my calories for the day and be determined to stick with it! HMMMM... :triumph:

    The Ugly.
On Friday for the Potluck Lunch I am going to wear my Ugly Sweater outfit that I didn't wear for the ugly sweater party!

    Have a GREAT week everyone!

@MsMarlaJean but you have to focus on the big success of a 6.5 lb loss WHILE doing lots of exercise. That means that you lost fat While gaining muscle!!!! Hurrah for you! Celebrate in that Ugly Sweater outfit...you are looking and feeling GREAT!!

The Good We are mostly moved and now living in our new home. I have also managed to keep up with my 30 day Kickstart a Comeback Challenge although MUCH alteration has had to occur in this last 10 days of the challenge and for the most part I'm ok with the changes because it all seems to be working out with some other issues I was considering regarding the timing.

The Bad I seem to be allowing myself to create some lame excuses and justifications for some not so healthy eating choices. Tsk Tsk!

The Ugly Because I have veered considerably from my original plan I must admit that I am TERRIFIED of the possible disappointment when I step on the scale tomorrow and either see no change or worse a gain. I know this is not a healthy perspective and I am well aware that this is an old habit of mine to self-sabotage. Trying to decide what I need to do to change this perspective...maybe I will skip a week of weighing in until I figure it out :grey_question:

Hope everyone has a wonderfully festive and/or HAPPY week! :cookie::innocent::heart:

The Good Lost 7.5 pounds over a 4 week period. I have managed to quit drinking my energy drinks and have improved on drinking my water and because I saw how much better I felt and how easy it can be to eat clean I have had a reset to my healthy mindset.

The BadThe Holidays and moving into our home gave me an excuse to derail the end of my Kickstart a comeback challenge, although I am ok with making it as far as I did and doing as well as I did. :+1:

The Ugly This past weekend I did not log and I had already used up my three passes so I am out of the running for this months UACD16, but will continue to log this week! And plan on :triumph: being triumphant in January if I can find the new UACJ16 group!
