A gift to yourself this season sounds like a great plan. I hope everyone does it, at least a little gift.

Merry Christmas Eve! Having a nice time with my in-laws, so that's good. Hubby and I took them to do some touristy things that we've been saving for just such an occasion. I'm still struggling with food choices, but like @1skholloway said, we can always lose the weight later. We did a distillery tour which ended with some vodka/gin/whiskey tasting, then we all went out to dinner. I had the cup of crab bisque ( so good and the first time I was glad to get such a small cup of soup), half a bun, and a chicken cobb salad. I feel good about my dinner choices. Today is Christmas Eve and when I was a kid, that was when we all went to Grandma's and had ALL THE FOOD. So, tonight we're having a nice dinner and tomorrow we're having a nice breakfast/brunch at home. (Christmas brunch is my hubby's family tradition.)

I hope you all have a healthy, relaxed holiday weekend.

Thanks, @JanolaBarbara. So far, it's been pretty pleasant. A nice dinner (without stuffing ourselves). Tomorrow, we'll have a family lunch at my brother's house.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

Took my grandmother home and the plan was always I would stop there if the weather was bad and I was working at the branch. :| Ok gran is starting to slip and if I were to go there I would spend some time disinfecting her bathroom as it reeks of urine and I know it's because she wears the bladder pads and probably doesn't take out her trash enough. So now today I have to go out and get supplies for my car and disinfecting wipes to throw in there too. My grandmother is a very hard woman so it's not like I could go in there and do it in general but I know I could not sleep in the room across from the bathroom with the way it smells. Oh please let the weather be good this week as I am at the branch all week. ;)

Xmas went well my daughter and her boyfriend liked there tins filled with post its and white out gift cards and cash.

@NewOR2015 --Congratulations on exercising restraint during Christmas dinner!

@2020pinktogo -- That's too bad about your having to clean your grandmother's bathroom. I can relate. Fingers crossed for good weather! Also glad your Christmas went well.

Well, we bought our tickets to South America today. Now I'm feeling a bit stressed because I don't know if I'll be in good enough shape for hiking and trekking and if my knee will even be good enough for those activities. Therefore, I'm going to start exercising regularly again (Tues-Wed-Sat) and lose 12 lbs. I am even thinking of rejoining WeightWatchers. I just need SOMETHING to get me going and stay motivated.

Well I am off to the branch for the rest of the week. I only hope the weather holds.

So for new years I am going to get back in the swing of things and stop eating cookies which is all i seem to do lately. I need to drink more water too. I found my old buddy diet coke. Yep the weight has gone up a few lbs. It's Like you know better but the stress of the season gets too much for you and you resort to the little things to get you through it.

I've been drinking lots of water...to wash down the ridiculous amount of food I've had lately. (So much for exercising restraint.)
I, too, am looking forward to the new year and that fresh start once again.

Hey y'all! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who hasn't been excercising restraint! Yep, I started drinking Coke Zero again when I got sick a few months ago and I haven't stopped. I love soda! I have been doing pretty well watching what I eat. I have eaten some sweets.

Funniest thing happened. I have been battling about 3 pounds for the last month. I went to a party Christmas eve. I ate a little duck gumbo over rice, some dips and crackers, fudge, and a small piece of pecan pie cheesecake. I left the party at 2:30 a.m. and didn't get to sleep until 4 am. I had to be at church 45 minutes away at 10 so I had to get up early to wrap a couple of gifts before I left. I got less than 4 hours of sleep. Between the lack of sleep and the food I ate, I was dreading weighing but I did. Well Merry Christmas to me!!!! Santa had taken those 3 pounds and I was almost back to my lowest weight!!!!!

After being off work for a week I returned to work Monday and I started with a stress headache immediately. It was almost migraine level. I stress ate a little that morning. I gained .8 of a pound by the next day.

I cooked cabbage Tuesday morning and have been eating 2 cups of eat with 3-4 ounces of chicken at lunch. I'm sticking to around 1200 calories and not exercising right now. This morning I weighed my lowest since maybe jr. high - I don't know- 149.6. I didn't record it on MFP because I am going on the family trip today. Mom's taking a lot of unhealthy junk food that none of us need. Others probably will as well. I'm pretty much taking all my own food. The unhealthy food will stay displayed on the table and will be a temptation. I hope to lose weight but know that's not realistic. I will be happy if I maintain. I will be happy if I don't gain 5 pounds.

I am going on the trip with an open mind and the option that I can leave at any time. I have prayed to mentally prepare myself. I also got sick this week with a mild upper respiratory infection and sinus drainage. I got a steroid shot yesterday. I feel better today. I will be around up to 17 people aged 2 1/2 to 78. Who knows if some of them may be sick. This will give me an excuse to leave at any time. Also, one of my close friends is picking up her 22 year old niece today from a 4 day stay at a psych ward for severe depression. She will keep the niece until Saturday. I told her I would postpone my trip or come back if she needed me. I doubt she will need me but I am making my self available. I have experienced what her niece is going through and my friend has not.

I'm taking clothes to go walking a lot. The weather should be suitable tomorrow. I have a rain coat and rain boots too so I can walk in the rain too! I want to explore. Plus it will help deal with stress and jump start my return to the gym on Monday.

My workout party hosted the Christmas eve party. She asked me when we were going to start working out again. I told her Monday. I'm glad I have someone pressing me to workout.

I told the doctor yesterday I want to lose 5 more pounds and he said that was all that I need to lose. I had on knee height boots, leggings, a long sleeve blouse, and a poncho when I was weighed and it was mid afternoon so of course his scales weighed me higher. I don't know what I weighed there. He did say I had lost 3 pounds since I had been there last and that my BMI was 25.19. I must have weighed about 156. He thinks I am radical with my weight loss. I guess I am somewhat to have just gone to am BMI calculator and figured out what his scaled weighed my based on what he showed my BMI to be. My therapist would say that I am focused. Although she was concerned recently that I was getting obsessed. It is easy to do.

I'm not sure how to stop losing weight when I hit maintenance. I have wanted to lose weight my entire life. Truly, if I don't lose anymore weight, I am ok with that. I guess 2017 will be a year of learning a new lifestyle for me - learning to maintain my weight as is. That's going to be tough. I do want to workout regularly and I would like to tone up. It is definitely true that we never quit learning isn't it?!

Ok, sorry for the long post. I have procrastinated long enough. I must get up and start moving now.

    Happy Thursday to everyone!

    Thanks @NewOR2015 !

I was slow moving Thursday so I didn't leave that day. That was a good thing because I woke up feeling worse Friday. I went tot he walk-in clinic Friday morning and was told I had a cold and a middle ear infection. The doctor prescribed a different antibiotic and the good narcotic cough syrup.

I finally made it to the state park Friday evening about 4 pm. We were deep in the woods. There was no wifi and the guys just wanted to watch football. We exchanged gifts Friday night. By today at 11, I decided it was time to come home. I got on the road by 1:15. I made an appearance and I left before any of us got very upset and before I got depressed. Apparently they thought I was mad. I wasn't mad but I was hurt by a comment. I was apologized to in somewhat of a backhanded sort of way but an apology at all was progress. I felt like leaving when I did was my way of making a statement that I wouldn't take being disrespected. They probably see it as I got mad and went home. I had not said anything I just packed my stuff and loaded my car. I don't care what they think. I know why I did what I did. It was hard to do it and I was sad but, overall, I was happy with my decision.

There was plenty of junk food around the cabin and I wasn't tempted to eat any of it! I ate the food that I took with me and nothing else. I was welcome to eat any of the other food. I knew if I ate a bite of junk food, I wouldn't stop. My sister-in-law took raw veggies and some fruit as well. I just stuck with what I had cause when I veer off my planned meals I don't do well.

I don't often drive long distances but when I do I like to eat something crunchy to help keep me awake. I have found celery to be something good to eat when I drive. I feel kind of like a cow chewing it's cud when I eat celery because I can never get all those strings in the celery chewed up. It gives me something low cal and nutritious to chew while I drive. I drink diet soda while driving because I don't have to stop for the bathroom as often.

The annual family trip is over for another year. It's good to be back home, relaxing in my bed. I will not be awake to ring in the new year. I have already been dozing. I hope to get up early tomorrow and get some things done around the house.

    Here's to a terrific 2017 for all!
