I would find a grocery store and buy some fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds (Such as peanuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts. Preferably without sugar and lightly salted). I'm assuming you don't have a frig. Download the app called Vegman. It will give you all the local vegan or veg friendly restaurants in your area. You can always do salads if there is not much available but ask for beans, nuts and/or brown rice to add to the salad for protein and to make you feel more full.
You may also want to look into Colleen Patrick-Goudreau's 30 day Vegan Challenge and see if it is something that resonates with you. Her website is compassionatecook.com. It is a great way to get started and she has a wealth of information.
That would be my quick fix while you are in a hotel. :-)0 -

When I've eaten out at places that aren't vegan friendly, they usually just don't realize how easily they could make vegan things. just talk to the restaurant and explain that they may be able to just alter some meals to make them vegan.
Hope this helps.0 -
i guess AlteredSkates is right you can always ask in worst case they will say no:) and then just go and buy your on food
(the best way as you now exactly what there is in your food)0 -
Your very right this is teaching me something as well if its pretty easy to eat vegan here it will be easy when we get out house as well0

The hardest part is eating out... My husband is not vegan either, but he eats what I cook at home & gets whatever he wants for lunch & when we go out to eat. Sometimes he will buy himself a roasted chicken or steak or something & cook it himself, but that's rare.
If you have a microwave in your room (or in the lobby of the hotel if they offer breakfast), instant oatmeal is great, if not, you can ask at the front desk & they might be able to nuke it for you. Many grocery stores offer packaged salads & salad bars now. It's not as bad as you might think, it just takes planning & patience especially when eating out. I always carry a baggie with dried fruit & nuts & a granola bar or Kind Bar just in case. Don't be afraid to ask your waiter or ask for a manager & explain your diet. I have never had a problem with a restaurant being very accommodating (although in general waiters may not be very helpful or knowledgeable at cheaper/chain restaurants). Congrats on your decision!0 -
happycow.com is also a great resource for vegan stores & restaurants0
