Mileage goals for new year?

I decided to start keeping a mileage log in January of 2016, just to see how many miles I would log for the year. I ended the year with 858 total miles logged and I did get to ride in every month of 2016 except for December (there were a few warm days in January and February- not typical for Indiana but it was a very mild winter). I would like to log 1000 miles for 2017. My rides are not usually very long - usually 15-20 miles about 2-3 days a week in peak season because I ride a recumbent trike (which is slower than your typical upright bike) and I only like to ride on the rail trails, which means driving 30 minutes each way to get to one (unfortunately I don't have a trail closer than that). But I am fortunate to have several different trails all within 20-30 miles away. Anyone else have a goal for 2017 that they would like to share?

I'm still working on my 2017 goal. I did 1000 miles in 2015 and 800 miles in 2016. Wanting to set a realistic goal for 2017 but also want to push myself more this year. Thinking about either 1000 or 1500 miles for 2017.2

I think I'd like to do 2000 miles in 2017. I did just over 1000 miles in 2016, despite only really getting back into cycling in the later summer, so hopefully it should be achievable. I've joined a road club so hopefully that will help with motivation etc.2

I think I will try for 1000 miles for 2017. I completed about 700 in 2016,1

probably going to be difficult/impossible to match this year's total, but I'm still going to shoot for 8,000km for the year - think the dayjob's going to make that really tough to do though - going to be lots of nights on the indoor trainer until it's light enough to ride 'till 7:30pm...

In 2016 i fell short (2949miles - target 3000) but a bad start with the weather and some surgery later in the year didn't help, but this year I have the turbo - so aiming for 3500 miles and 175000ft of climbing.1

I did 7011km (4356 miles) in 2016. I'm aiming for 10,000km (6214 miles) in 2017... Barring and 'breaks'2

I am shooting for around 4000 miles this year; bike to work 2-3 times/wk 40 miles round trip, 3 hour ride on weekends. I typically am around 800-1000, but I am going to start ramping up to ride a century later in the year and I will starting to ramp up mileage for Ironman training. Doubt I'll get an IM this year, but definitely 2018. Not sure my base model Trek 1.2 bike is going to survive, but we'll see.1

I got back to biking after recovering from back surgery in early 2016. I was thrilled to log over 2800 miles for the year, which is close to my average. My goal for 2017 is to log 3500 miles. The weather has to cooperate. Right now, it's 8 below zero. No biking for me today.0

Fell short of my 2016 goal of 7500Km by about ~250Km due to being out for an entire month because of injury. 2017 goal is for 8500Km with hopefully 60,000 metres of climbing.0

Bike up (and down) Slate Peak from the Mazama Store. And do the Angels Staircase loop, for which I'll need to rent a mountain bike.
I've never had a mileage goal for the year. They always seemed arbitrary to me, I'm happy to let the miles work out to whatever they will. Last year I got about 3,600 miles and 225,000 feet of elevation gain, but that's across all activities (cycling, hiking, skiing, etc).0 -
I have goals in my head, but then I always forget to track my mileage. It kind of makes me happy that I don't really care. To me it means I've found more joy than work.1

I logged almost 3,000 miles in 2015. Even with 2 surgeries, I still managed almost 2,000 in 2016 (some on a stationary bike). I'm hoping to get over 3,000 on the road this year including my first century ride.1

My focus is on training hours, not miles, so I don't really have a goal mileage.
Having said that, I rode 4,077 miles in 2016. I'm changing, and stepping up, my training for 2017. Based on my first 6 weeks of the new training plan it looks like 6,000 miles is a fairly reasonable mileage target for the new year.0 -
I did 4,198 mi in 2016, I'm going to shoot for 5000 mi this year.0

If we are counting stationary bike miles my total is actually 2272- I kept track of those too. It's harder to ride longer on a stationary bike. Netflix helps!0 -
I did 2745 last year, cycling from May to December, which was my best ever year's total by a huge margin. I'm aiming to cycle all year this year, so I reckon 4000 miles should be achievable.0

Trainer + Netflix/Hulu get me through the winter.0 -

Same here. Netflix and the trainer!!!0 -
I'm shooting for 2017 miles in 2017. Easier for me to remember.0

One of the guys in my club did over 18,000 miles last year! I'll be happy with 2000 this year myself.0
-
You're not planning on a massive year-on-year progression on the mileage then?0
-
I had 3,118 miles in 2016. Looking to go 4,000-5,000 in 2017.0

Late to the thread but just started riding again after a 4 month injury recovery. My goals this year are events (metric centuries), starting with the Cinderella April 8 at less than 2000' climbing and continuing into the fall until the rain starts with a goal of 5000' climbing (or more). Long term goal is returning to riding full centuries in 2018 (it's been years The very best of luck to everyone in achieving (and exceeding) your goals for this year!1

CHECK IN:
YTD / GOAL = 550/1000 MI = 55%
Need to double my goal2 -
I'm at 830 miles of my ~6000. I'm a little behind schedule since I had to travel for work in January and followed that up by getting sick twice (so far) in Feb. Hopefully things even out and I can get back on track.0
-
I'm at 720 miles against my target of 2017, so might need to increase it a bit.0

I finished training ride #3 for the Cinderella (April 8). I'm getting a very slow start due to rain, but on the plus side I started working out on my trainer and am learning how to put in the kind of effort that makes a difference when actually riding.
I signed up for my next metric April 30 - Chico Wildflower Classic, about 2350 feet of climbing.
Yay for everyone barely into the new year and having to up their goals already!0
