Make Kool-Aid as directed:
1 packet unsweetened Kool-Aid (or Wyler's, which is $.10/packet at the Dollar General as of this writing)
1 cup white sugar
8 cups water
Add:
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp Morton Lite Salt
Fill drink bottles HALF full, add equal amount of water (to get half-strength of above mixture.)
Per 8 oz.:
48 calories
12g carbohydrate
332mg sodium
44mg potassium
Per 24-oz bike bottle:
144 calories
36g carbohydrate
996mg sodium (this sounds outrageous but is about the amount in a liter of sweat. Reduce the salt if you don't sweat that much.)
132mg potassium
Compared to 24 oz Gatorade:
156 calories
41g carbohydrate
324 mg sodium (not enough in hot weather)
90mg potassium
