Do you guys do it manually or by using the side button?
I have mine synced with myfitnesspal and it doesn't seem to send over my excercises... Also what about strength training how does it detect that? I have the HR charge by the way.

I always activated via the side button. I constantly had issues with the autodetect. I messed around with it for months, but it only worked a couple of times correctly. My exercises always went over to MFP though.

Exercises and workouts never come over to MFP. Only steps as a stat to view, and your daily burn through the day.

MFP does math to make an adjustment.
You could have no exercise and big active day and have big adjustment.
You could have big exercise and lazy day and have no adjustment.

Read the FAQ's in the stickies for how that works.

Also - HR-based calorie estimate for lifting is going to be inaccurate.
HR-based calorie calculations are only valid for steady-state (2-4 min same HR) aerobic exercise.
Lifting should be exactly opposite that - HR constantly moving and anaerobic.

Now - if 15 min of lifting 3 x weekly and otherwise active - no big whoop.
If 45-60 min lifting 5 x weekly and otherwise not very active daily - much bigger deal.
