I find avoiding bread really helps me lose weight, In the morning. 5 Kallo low fat rice cakes (150 cals) make a great alternative to a couple of slices of bread in the morning and avoids wheat completely. I don't base wheat avoidance on any medical claims, just my own personal experience of horrible bloating caused by eating refined wheat products.
Add a low fat spread such as Flora Light at 28 cals per 10 grams and a thin spread of your favourite spreads, you can fill up on very limited calories.
5 Kallo low fat rice cakes - 150 cals
20 grams low fat spread - 56 cals
30 grams of your favourite spread such as Strawberry Jam - 75 cals
Total 281 calories or about 56 calories per slice so you can happily add a couple more slices and still keep the calorie count to a reasonable 392 for 7 rice cakes with Strawberry Jam.
You can also reduce the total amount by swapping some of the jam with Marmite or your own yeast extract of choice. You can guess which side of the Marmite fence I stand on!
