My one Year at MFP

<-- that is me 13 months ago, before I have my melon-sized fibroid removed! I looked pregnant! (And felt it!)

********** ONE YEAR! It came and went. My one year here was July 17, I think. I started at 146# post major surgery, took it slow (due to the surgery and not having much to lose). Lost 0.5# a week. Got to about 134# in December/January with a body fat % of 28%. Been maintaining my weight between 133-135# and my body fat is at about 24%. I'd like it to be 22%, but I'm not in a hurry. I am just trying to eat well and exercise/lift weights.

It is so nice to no longer have a solid mass the size of a large honeydew melon in my gut. Before it was found, I thought ,Abe it was normal to become horribly sluggish feeling and get a 'belly' at 40. Between getting my abdominal cavity back to myself and eating better/lifting..I feel like a new person!

Well done on what you've achieved this year. :flowerforyou:

I had 2 rockmelon (cantaloupe) sized fibroids removed in 2006-ish. But I was so fat they weren't visible from the outside. :noway: Did you have any issues with recovery? Mine was sweet. I just loved all the time off work I had! I've been trying to work out what other body parts I could have removed for similar recovery time... Anybody want a kidney? They aren't really essential, are they?!

I always have a hard time with anesthesia. It just takes me a few days to not be 'drugged' and nauseous. There were some mild complications with my surgery and I was so incredibly sore, after I got over the anesthesia and the bad pain meds that made me sick, I got a horrible gut wrenching cough that opened a few stitches. I couldn't drive for almost 2 month I was in such pain. (All the hospital drugs made me sick, so I was taking Over The Counter Motrin for the pain, it didn't do much.

What was planned as a 1.5 hour surgery took 6 hours, a second surgeon was called to assist, and I was in the hospital most the week.

It was pretty awful. LOL. But I got a "bladder lift' at the same time, which was heavenly!
