Anyone tried Nizoral shampoo for hair loss...?

My hair has been falling out pretty steadily for about two years. It's getting really thin, but fortunately I've gotten on some medication that should help it. I've heard that there can be residual DHT that actually rests on the scalp, and that Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo can get rid of it.

Has anyone tried this? Also, do any of you have any success stories regarding hair coming back? My doctor told me about laser combs that can help stimulate hair growth, those are expensive but I'm considering springing for one. Anything is worth it to get my thick hair back!

PS what about weight loss? I know weight loss can improve PCOS symptoms, if anyone has had any results (hair growth/loss, acne, otherwise) let me know!

Nizoral is good. It will get the dht off the scalp, but the problem I've run into is that it's so drying that my hair gets brittle and breaks. Supposedly, we should wash our hair daily to get rid of the dht. To be fair, I have fragile hair and hypothyroid stuff going on so hopefully your experience will be better. It may also be worth a try to get your dr to write you an Rx for the higher percentage formula of Nizoral.
In my experience, Rogaine has worked best. I use the men's foam formula once a day, and that has worked amazingly.
I read in a PCOS book that 5 drops of rosemary oil in a little bit of carrier oil rubbed onto your scalp 30 minutes before washing will eventually help. But like any hair growing treatment, it will take 6 months to see if it's really helping. Also, have you checked your ferritin level? I read that it needs to be above 80 to regrow hair well. A lot of us are low on iron storage due to the heavy bleeds associated with PCOS.

Thought this was a cool nutritional approach to hair loss that mentions PCOS several times: http://www.eatthis.com/best-foods-to-stop-hair-loss
