Hi Mommas. I've been dealing w headaches and not sure what's up. It happened weeks ago & then seemed to stop. I kinda thought it was from wearing my hair pulled up constantly. Well yesterday I had a killer headache for about 6 hours before I could finally fall asleep. Today it's like a lingery off & on headache. If I move it would hurt but resting it was OK. Kinda reminded me of a hangover type headache. Tonight it's better just more like pressure when I bend over & stuff. My BP hasn't been high at all. I go to my midwife next Tuesday & will talk to her. Just hoping it's nothing like preeclampsia. I can't even imagine being back on bed rest. Anyone have advice/input/suggestions?

How far along are you? I had severe headaches with my first pregnancy especially in the first and early second trimester. This time around I had probably a 2 to 3 week period in my 2nd trimester where I had headaches a lot but it eventually just went away. I would just take Tylenol to help with it and lay down when I could. Hope it gets better!0

Hi. I'm 22 weeks. :-)0

I'm 21 weeks along have had a headache for the past week as well. I am chalking it up to the fact that I haven't slept through the night in about a month. Getting plenty of fluids, and trying to stay away from over the counter meds, but don't think I can hold out much longer. I've heard caffeine is supposed to help with headaches, but I think that would just make the insomnia worse. I don't know your workout regimen, but I'm sure that mine is making my headaches worse. Gonna take today off and take some Benadryl tonight and see if that helps. Of course, it could just be all hormonal, in which case, there's not a thing we can do about it0

I'm 12 weeks. I've been getting them since the beginning. My doctor said to have one cup of coffee every day and to take my claritin every day because mine are caused by hormones and weather changes and allergies are bad right now. Good luck!0

I've been getting occasional headaches since about week 19. It's also very hot and humid right now so no doubt that is contributing. I had read that during pregnancy all the blood vessels are swollen, which can contribute to headaches and sinus headaches. I've found a "shot" of Coca Cola does the trick for me. I drink a couple ounces when I have a nasty headache and that--combined with rest and tons of water--tends to knock them out. I had my 20 week check up last week and blood pressure is fine, so it seems to be related to other things. (Pre-pregnancy, my headache regimen generally ended with a can of Coke so I guess I haven't really changed it, just adjusted the quantity.)0

I almost drank some soda the other night to try but I was exhausted & didn't seven want to get up. I usually do drink a little soda each day. I used to drink a ton then quit for a while. I had to skip my yoga yesterday because there was noway I could have done it w the headache. I rally don't want to take meds, I never do, unless I HAVE to. I do drink a bunch of water, like 5-9 18oz cups a day. I'm hoping my BP will still be good & that this is just a mix of allergies, weather & body changes. :-)0

I had them really bad up until about week 15. Mine were definitely migraines though....just on one side of my head and would last about three days. Nothing helped at all, so I just suffered through them. I haven't had one in awhile though, thank god!
Hopefully you get some relief soon!0 -
I've had debilitating headaches/migraines from about 8 weeks till now at 17 weeks. I also had them with my last baby. If I don't catch them as soon as they start, they will not go away until I throw up and go to sleep. They are horrible. My doctor doesn't seem to concerned though....some people just get these with pregnancy. I am sure the hormones and extra blood are the culprit. I have about one once a week now. If I stop it when it starts (I drink a coke with caffeine and have three Tylenol) it seems to help. If I get beyond the point of no return though, it's all bad. I don't remember having them as much toward the end of the second trimester with the last baby....hopefully this one will be the same. Stay hydrated....it helps!0

I had them all through the 1st trimester. Talk to your Dr as mine prescibed fiorcet when mine were really bad. Tylenol didn't work for me and I didn't really want to take anything either. I have about half a regular coke at onset and that seems to do the trick if I catch it early. Good luck!0

I had the same thing throughout 1st trimester and at end of 2nd. I would take one tylenol and about 1/3 soda and that seemed to do the trick.
I rarely ever drink soda, either. Dr said it was hormones.0 -
Yes, me too! My midwife just explained to me yesterday that these head aches are caused by the hormone relaxin that relaxes all your muscles in preparation for childbirth. This includes the soft muscles around your brain which gives you mild to severe tension head aches. She said they usually go away after week 20, fingers crossed!! And that would explain why a few girls n here mentioned the head aches went away halfway through the second trimester0

Finally got to talk to my midwife yesterday. BP is "gorgeous" & no protein in my urine so she believes they are hormone related too. It's been almost 2 weeks since last one so hopefully it's over! Lol0
