John 6:60-71
New Century Version (NCV)
The Words of Eternal Life
60 When the followers of Jesus heard this, many of them said, “This teaching is hard. Who can accept it?”
61 Knowing that his followers were complaining about this, Jesus said, “Does this teaching bother you? 62 Then will it also bother you to see the Son of Man going back to the place where he came from? 63 It is the Spirit that gives life. The flesh doesn’t give life. The words I told you are spirit, and they give life. 64 But some of you don’t believe.” (Jesus knew from the beginning who did not believe and who would turn against him.) 65 Jesus said, “That is the reason I said, ‘If the Father does not bring a person to me, that one cannot come.’”
66 After Jesus said this, many of his followers left him and stopped following him.
67 Jesus asked the twelve followers, “Do you want to leave, too?”
68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, who would we go to? You have the words that give eternal life. 69 We believe and know that you are the Holy One from God.”
70 Then Jesus answered, “I chose all twelve of you, but one of you is a devil.”
71 Jesus was talking about Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. Judas was one of the twelve, but later he was going to turn against Jesus.

OBSERVE:

1. Jesus' words are hard to believe but his followers stick with him
2. Jesus knew who was his true followers before hand, and he still worked with one, he knew was evil.
3. His true disciples called him The Holy One of God.
INTERPRETATION:
What do you interpret these verses to mean for you today?
Jesus was an example of one who knew he was working with betrayal and unfair people, but he stood firm and continued on his point. His ministry was the only thing that mattered. He had his priorities straight.

Today, I learned to acknowledge the one true God and make certain that I am a faithful follower.

John 6:60-71
King James Version (KJV)
60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
OBSERVE:
Take a moment and write down three observations of the verses. What strikes you? An observation is an observable fact from the Word.
1. Some decided to no longer walk with Jesus when what he said was hard...
2. Jesus chose Judas, knowing he would betray him
3. The remaining faithful disciples believe that Jesus is Christ, the Son of the living God
INTERPRETATION:
What do you interpret these verses to mean for you today?
People can't always handle truth, and when something is to hard they quit and/or go their own way. Jesus however, stayed true to his purpose against all odds including a close companion that he knew was not faithful to him. He in fact used the negative to achieve his purpose.
APPLY
Today, I learned that truth isn't always well received and that you have to work with friend and foe to accomplish the will of God. I will stay faithful to my savior and apply this lesson to my life

OBSERVE:
Take a moment and write down three observations of the verses. What strikes you? An observation is an observable fact from the Word.
1. The disciples didn't understand Jesus and many went back and didn't walk with Him anymore.
2. Jesus had already known all along which of them did not believe and who would betray him.
3. The rest of the disciples stayed with Jesus because they believed He was is Christ, the Son of the living God
INTERPRETATION:
What do you interpret these verses to mean for you today?
Though it was hard to understand, it was important to be faithful and believe that Jesus is Christ, the Son of the living God
