Here is another of our native woodland springtime flowers: the trillium. 3 leaves and 3 flowers. They only stand about 6 inches high. Much shorter than the Virginia bluebell. The bluebells will bloom and droop during this week. There will be trilliums abounding until mid-May.
Have a beautiful day wherever you are!
Rick

Beautiful picture again Rick, thank you.
Today followed similar lines to yesterday, run first thing then lots of walking with some more cave exploration although simpler than yesterday. We went on a tour of the honeycomb caves this morning which are well known for the numbers of moa bones that have been found there. The moa is an extinct New Zealand bird along the lines of an emu or ostrich. We got to see some of the skeletons still in situ and some impressive stactites too. We also visited a couple of large limestone arches over the river. I will post a couple of photos when I get home tomorrow.
Tracking and calories also ok today. I ate more than usual but all my exercise calories still brought me in under target.
@pribud - I seem to have got myself hooked on exercise, particularly outside, but this is a recent development. I think I'm probably the fittest I've ever been now, certainly I am able to run further than ever before although that's still only about 3 miles but I'mworking on it6 -
Ok I am feeling cranky. My mom is dealing with grandma and things aren't going smoothly so I am in mom's line of fire.
Goal for today is to get outside for a walk.
Have a great day everyone !!3 -
@2020pinktogo I know how you feel. My Mom always has me in her line of fire, because I am the 'responsible one', just like you. They assume we live to serve.
@aeshippers Wonderful new habit and joy that you love to exercise outdoors. Hurrah for you!1 -
Just finished 48 minutes of inside the house, cardio/strength/rest. Lots of rest stops to bring the heart rate back down. HR monitor says I did 300 cal of pushups; skips; stationery bike; and lat pulldowns. Whew.5

@2020pinktogo and @RangerRickL I am the oldest child with all the stereotypes that go along with that and my mom expects me to take care of everything. And of course, I do. So, right there with you all. BTW, nice workout Rick!
I went to a very nice party at my friend and neighbors house last night. I was very conscientious of what I ate, but figured that I ate a little over my calories, and did not put it in last night. Today I woke up and knew I had to be accountable, and put it all in.... and I was under my calories. Barely, but still. So awesome- I ate well and had a great time.7 -
@phoebelayla - congratulations, barely under is still under4

This weekend was not my finest. I threw my friend a baby shower and spent the weekend shopping, cooking, munching, drinking, eating out with friends in town, eating out with my boyfriend, and skipping the gym. It is definitely something to think about and find ways to prevent myself from falling into a similar spiral. Today went much better. I made it to the gym, passed on the many baked goods offered at work, and made healthy choices for my meals and snacks. Fingers crossed to keep it up this week and make up for the last few days

It's been a super busy past few dais. Saturday was nonstop activity, Sunday o worked some OT, went for a bike ride (including running an errand while riding) and had to work on my dad's lawn. I ended up mowing it with the rider just before the sun went down but didn't get a chance to trim with the push mower. Today I took an extended work break (I work from home) and got to babysit my 7-week-old niece for an hour and a half (short notice). I so enjoyed that! Tomorrow I'm in-house at the business office for work receiving training on new software we will be using. Busy, busy, busy...2 -

A good day. Walked an hour indoors with a friend. Too cold outside today. Did some housework. I hosted our book club group tonight; never ate any snacks. However, slightly over my calorie allowance and tracked everything.1
