Grand Tours, Other Ideas and The Future - A Question

After reading the discussion about the grand tours, and how people are trying to decide what their own future in Cycleagues should be, I've come up with a related, but still different, question.

I'm starting to work on endurance biking. My goal is to start doing a century each month by the end of the year, and next year to include at least one month where a double century happens. I'm also planning on including others, though I'm still working out how to do so.

Basically, I want to help people go further, and I want to have people go further with me. There's a real element of face-to-face happening with this idea (which is why I've looked at MeetUp), but there's nothing requiring it to be exclusively that.

So, here's what I'm wondering: Should I use Cycleagues, and the data export there, as a way to track people's rides? Or should I do something 100% on my own? I can see options going either way for it (and it still wouldn't preclude using MeetUp), so I'm looking for some feedback.

well - as cycleagues has gone to the great bit-bucket in the sky, I guess you're down to "rolling your own"...

I don't see why we can't go back to something simple. The spreadsheet was fantastic but it is time consuming. Can we go with something simple and roll from there? I unfortunately lost a vet so I'm working 118 hrs a week right now. That means I'm out for the Vuelta. However, by next year I should be able to help with entries.

I'm actually working on some software that will hopefully steamline things for Mark. It's mostly functioning at this point, I have to get some error checking and finish up the reporting and it'll be ready for beta testing. I'm hoping to bang that part out this weekend.
