Etta is sitting next to me, licking her paws. When we were gone, her previous owners watched her. They have a farm-type setting with lots of sheep that she can herd, which she LOVES, but unfortunately she came home completely bitten up by some sort of bug. It was bad enough that we had to take her to the vet and she's on 2 pills now and also has a mousse that we rub on her tummy a couple times each day. The meds are definitely helping!
Busy day ahead of me. Lou, have you heard of CHAMP stores going MEG? One of ours did, and I have 2 meetings there today. It sure feels like a step backwards. Then I have one other WW meeting in another store in another city, and then I lead a Bible study on Thursday nights. Hopefully I'll have a few minutes for a quick nap in the middle.

Lisa - I share your 'sleep' needs! With a houseful of, sometimes I have to remind others that though I go to bed at 9p - I am up at 5a most days... Ugh. A friend of mine said they were in bed by 9p on the 4th - lamenting - you can tell you are getting older when you go to bed BEFORE fireworks. With 3 kids, I understand his point.
BIG NEWS! Hawkins Reeve VFW Post 7916 received All-American Award Honors! We finished in the top ten nationally, actually (#9 to be precise). Only the top 1% of Posts receive this honor - so we are tickled to death! Lots of hard work. We had 588 members when I joined. When we closed out on June 30 - we grew the enterprise to 727!!!! Thats 121% of our membership goals! We are elated!
Mary - how did Truck shopping go?
Raine - how did Jack like the Kayaking?
Dennis - me thinks I'm gonna get rained out of my baseball game tonight. ATL in town.

Congrats on your VFW Honors award, Skip. That is big time. Rain outs are so disappointing. Good argument for a domed stadium (not a fan of domes, but no rain outs).
Still trying to figure out my electrical problem on boat.

- Hoping Etta beats the bugs. Emma and her Mom are going to FL when I'm at Boys Nation and she always comes back with a nice collection of fleas.
- Congratulations on the Post Skip. It's all about membership. I'll be dining at the Greenbelt, MD American Legion post a week from Sunday.
- We went from a mild June to a hot and humid July all at once. A/C is my friend.

We had a blast kayaking - I think this is going to be a great Florida activity.
Lisa - sorry Etta has bug bites - not fun. The kayak was open - just enough room for Jack to sit between my legs. (Also to check for spiders and bugs!)

Raine, that's a great picture. No way could I get my Sally Sue near a kayak. I have only seen her sort of walk into shallow water once. On the other hand, I cannot get Connie near a boat either. She is still blaming a snake in the water indicent from when she was a small girl. Is it OK for me to say that was 50 years ago, so get over it?

Hot one here already! Heading to the big festival on lake Michigan to see REO Speedwagon tonite. Yeah, Im a classic rocker. Classic being another word for oldie. They are one of my fav 80's rock bands.
Love the photo Raine! Shadow used to ride in the tube behind our ski boat with one of the kids. She loved it! She was a boating, swimming, water lab! Those were the days.....

Lisa, I go to bed on work nights at 8:30pm - we get up at 5am. I want 8 hours sleep a night. Last night it was midnight, up at 8am. We watched a late movie on Neflix called No Escape, with Owen Wilson. It was good. Different type of role for him. Sorry Etta got bit up. What did her past owners think it was from?
Well our vacation time off is closing in. Back to work on Monday. Our 8yr. old mattress with a 10 yr. warranty is getting picked up today to be restuffed and brought back to like new pillow top status. Its about a 1/4" sunk in. They will return it to us tomorrow. So we're sleeping in the guest room tonite. Glad were are taking advantage of this warranty feature, might as well. Be interesting to see if indeed it will be like new again?
