Hey all, I'm super new to having a fitbit (just got it last night!). I've never had a fitness tracker, and I just got a Charge 2. I regularly go to a Zumba class, but I don't know how to log the activity into the fitbit. Which activity should I use to get the most accurate reading? Or will the fitbit automatically recognize that I'm doing exercise based on my heart rate? I'm sorry if this has been covered before. Thanks in advance!

I have a Fitbit blaze and I start it myself when class starts under cardio. Or you can automatically let it log.1

The selections of different workouts on the device are meaningless for calorie burn - they are merely text labels to make it easier to review your exercise diary.
You can call it whatever - and then later go change the label to what is useful info (like Zumba level 3 - died).
It's going to use HR to base calorie burn on when you go into the exercise zone.
It's going to take a couple weeks for it to decide when that is exactly, based on restingHR and frequency/duration of workouts.
So calorie burn could be way off for a week or two.
Or you are exactly average and it'll be right.1 -
I got my Charge HR a little over a year ago, but then life exploded all over me and I wasn't doing much for awhile. Recently found MFP (loving it, btw!), and want to start walking a bit. It's hard because I've let myself get so far out of shape that everything is painful - not 'oh yeah, feel the burn' painful, but real pain. So, I'm taking it slow. Anyway, I just dusted off my HR and revamped my profile, linked it here, Synced it and will start tomorrow! Wanted to drop by and say 'Hello." Drop me a msg if you'd like to be friends here on MFP and/or on FitBit!2

It will pick it up if you exercise for 15+ minutes it will automatically pick it up or you can log it as cardio.0
