Being with all of you team members has become a deeply satisfying part of my life. One of the best parts is seeing our team members achieve the success that they worked to achieve.
For those of us who have been on the team for a few months know, @SimonsChange has truly changed. I recommend that you go to his MFP page and see his photos.
He gave me permission to share one of our recent private messages. I had asked him if he had always been interested in hiking. He responded, "As far as hiking goes, it's thanks to the UAC that I decided to give it a go. Before I would just do basic cardio in my home gym. It was working but I thought that I could do better. Then my treadmill died on me. I started hiking at the park and it just felt so much better than being inside. That led me to search my area to find a popular hiking place close to me. After checking out the area, it just seemed a lot nicer for clearing my head and getting lost in the world. I can go 3-4 hours and it will feel like no time has passed. Generally, the people that I meet are nice and so, it's a blast!
I'd say that I've been hiking so much these last 2 months that its a major part of my life. If it's not raining, I"m out there hiking!

Ok I envy Simon that use to be my life till all this rain and flooding this morning I got up and thought I don't hear any rain. Went outside the fog was so thick I couldn't see my neighbor but his dog found me. He was calling for her I was calling back. When he got to us the neighbor goes I hate to be a kill joy but you will get killed out there today March your fanny back inside. Which I did plus its so cold out and if I can't see anything could happen. Today at work they are taking a 3 hour boat cruise. Food and booze on lake Erie. I am passing one I don't care that they think I am a bore. I don't drink and a majority of the group does. Though we did have a customer come in and tell us about his anger management class they took them to a place where they got a few beers and then got to throw hatchet at a bulls eye wall. Once again I don't want the beer but I wouldn't mind tossing hatchet.
I suggested going to a trampoline park but as it doesn't serve booze it's off the list.
Hopefully the weather will get better . Have a great day everyone !!6 -
Good day today
Cycled to work and the sun was just coming up when I arrived. So nice to see some daylight as we approach the end of winter.
Today for the first time in a long time I wasn't fighting the urge to eat all day. I basically ate what I'd planned and was satisfied.
So an easy 3 yesses today.8 -
@SimonsChange is one of the uac legends! He's a machine! I also feel like he's my mfp younger brother as we chose similar names! (Sorry Simon!)
I'm a great believer of getting outdoors. There was a news article this week about how prisoners are getting more fresh air than the average kid. Get outside more everyone! A friend has a challenging job that needs a sort of debriefing session with a therapist every few weeks and it really stuck with me when she shared that the therapist told her to get outdoors every day and where possible by water e.g. the ocean, river , lake... Since becoming a mum and working part time I can't afford gym membership so the great outdoors is my gym. @SimonsChange please
get yourself a light rain coat. I'm sure you'd love it in the rain. I teach young children and one of our sayings is "there's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing". Which when I just googled to share some nice pictures with you is attributed to Ralph Fiennes which I'm not sure is true! Anyway, I hope everyone's having great day.6 -

Exercised?: Yes. Walked 7 Km in 60 mins (hills).
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
Upped my daily target today by 100 kCal per day. Was still losing over last week, so trying to gradually level off as I work slowly into maintenance. I may be 2 weeks at this level. Still fighting mental battles to stay on track and not continue to lose weight and size. The walking helps.
Only travelling an hour into the city tomorrow for work (not 4 hours interstate ). So likely no hills walking tomorrow. Fill find somewhere in town to make up the difference.
Debating whether to sign up for a 35km walk in November. Sounds tempting. Unfortunately the 30k extreme challenge walk (that passes by my front door) in October requires minimum teams of 2. Would love to do that one, but don't know anyone locally that can maintain my pace walking in the hills that I could partner with.
@SimonsChange. Great that hiking is your thing now. Getting out there is so much better than a treadmill. 76 lbs loss (so far) would make it possible. Unfortunately the photos that @RangerRickL. mentioned are not public. I am sure the weight loss has been stunning.
@pribud. You are super woman (at least I think you are). You keep up lifting the entire UAC team.
@trixsey1. Great pictures of Hardwick hall (or for the Potter movie fans, Malfoy manor ). Looks like a great place to visit.
@marthall. Nice photos. Hope you had a great time camping. Great activity.
@aeshippers. It is so nice to start having more daylight. Good that your body is starting to be satisfied with what you planned to eat.3 -
Thanks for all the kind words everyone I really do appreciate it. Hiking has certainly changed me in many ways if someone was talk to the me of last year you'd meet someone that didn't care what foods he ate or even if he worked out or not.
Now I cant go a day without doing some type of workout and my diet always gets a good amount of veggies in aswell as healthier food choices in general haha.
And the journey you all just took me on is amazing cause after Rick mentioned my pictures I realised I hadn't ever uploaded any pictures of me above 233 but my max recorded weight was 277 So I did find a picture of me when I was holding my niece (I avoided pictures like the plague when I was very obese which I kinda regret now) and a picture of me at 201

My adventure is still only just starting I have so much I want to do to my body and in my life which I work towards every single day.
A big goal of mine was to conquer my blood pressure which so far the readings Ive had have been very good
Starting was like 150/91 to 131/83 to 127/81 to 131 / 63 so I'd say my progress on that is very amazing I've also managed to stay hydrated everyday which was a very rare thing for me cause I would only drink soda so I went from that to only drinking water with the occansional coffee
Also here is a album of some of the trails I take when I go out hiking I usually end it in the woods trail which is about 6 to 7 miles depending on which route you go to enter the trail https://imgur.com/a/YmGMB8 -
@simonschange - beautiful pics. I love woodland walks. Well done on getting your blood pressure under control, this was one of my main issues as well - mine was 150/90 now it's down to a healthy 128/83 at my last checkup with the nurse.
Walking/hiking is a great way to exercise and I love being outside whatever the weather.
Fantastic progress on your weight loss journey, and for the changes in your own lifestyle which I'm sure did not come easy at first. Good luck to you and to your future goals.
@craigo3154 - lol, not many people know that Hardwick Hall was featured on the HP film, Deathly Hallows! That 35km walk sounds great.
@am_change - those are all great pics! I too am out in all weather, like today. I don't know what it's like where you are, but it's been peeing it down all day here!

Exercised?: Yes
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
Workout:-
40 mins total body strength workout using 3kg dumbells.
Walking:-
Had to venture into town this morning, then took the dogs for their walk despite the weather.
It's really wet here, rain and winds but we had a fun walk all the same.
Hardly a soul about either, just as we like it! I think we were the only ones daft enough to venture out in it, lol
Total steps walked today: 13,425
Total calories burned: 860
Total calories consumed: 1308 / 1320

@SimonsChange inspiring transformation pictures! And what stunning scenery you live near. Thanks for sharing. Those steps look exhausting!
@trixsey1 great workouts! It rained pretty much all day here too in the south of England and is forecast to rain ALL day tomorrow. Don't you just love the British summer?
@craigo3154 defo do the 35km. I'm doing my 25km later this month which is part of the south coast challenge here. One of my crazy friends is doing 100km to celebrate being in remission from cancer for a decade. I'm supporting her for a quarter and another of our friends is doing 50km.5 -
Wow what positive reading this morning. @SimonsChange you are amazing! You actually look even younger in your recent picture! You are an inspiration to everyone on here What is your goal weight? I am so excited about sharing this journey with you! Thank you for allowing @RangerRickL to share your story with us.

What a wonderful, sunny day. The haze that we've had, from the wildfires, is lifting. I really hope that all the people who were subjected to the wildfires are ok. It's nice to see afar, again:)
I got s late start on my workout, this morning, because...I just WANTED to sleep in!
Exercise: I did 56 minutes of vigorous bike riding. The route that I used, this morning, had a couple of very hilly segments. Fantastic! So, I did that hilly section a few times.
Calories: I am well within my goal, today.
Track: I have tracked everything.5 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? Got 10 miles in today weather was real good so that's a plus, also did 30mins of bodyweight training
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes by a good bit.
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes
(28.17 / 140) Mile Goal
@RangerRickL Thanks for the share and I'm glad I can help inspire people!
@am_change Thanks for all the kind words and images! I certainly appreciate it and I'll certainly have to look into a light rain coat (also those steps are certainly hell as I'll go up and down them pretty often).
@craigo3154 Thanks for the kind words! Hiking is certainly a great thing that I've found hoping it'll stick with me for life and thanks for the kind words.
@trixsey1 Thanks for the kind words. Yea getting my blood pressure down has certainly been nice I'm glad I dont really have to worry about it much anymore and yea the lifestyle changes were certainly tough at the start but now adays I can bake cakes & other things for people and not feel anything for it so that makes me happy haha.
@pribud Thanks for the kind words I've been hearing I look younger a lot lately haha!. And for a new years resolution I wanted to be in the 170s so that's my first goal I've set weight wise and after that I'll shoot for low to mid 140s.
Once again thanks for all the kind words UAC members and I'm glad I can inspire people just like how you all inspire me.6 -
August 8:
Exercise?: 4-mile tempo run this morning, clocking in at 35 minutes, plus the usual walking.
Plank?: Yes.
Calories?: Yes, with 108 to spare.
Tracked?: Yes. Allowed myself an ice cream after dinner because I had the room for it.4 -
@SimonsChange Wow, so inspirational. Not just the weight loss, but your whole attitude of healthy lifestyle and goals.
@am_change love the pictures! Years ago my husband and I were hiking in Alaska we got trapped back in Denali National park when the mudslides closed the roads. -- So we made the best of it and didn't let the rain stop our activity. I remember vowing that we wouldn't let rain stop us from hiking and enjoying outdoor activities when we got home. -- Did we live up to that? NAH. We check the radar and make decisions on the forecast.
Strength work out in the morning, cycled after work. Tracked under calories.4 -
3 yeses today. Still lifting weights in the gym between 2 and 3 times per week. Today was definitely challenging. Lunges and deadlifts are my friends, but today I just wanted to give them the bird. Lol
I am happy to report a non-scale victory (NSV) though. I put on a pair of pants for work today and didn't notice until later that they're a size down and are roomy throughout too. This was a welcome boost! Happy dance. I'm feeling really good.
I'm enjoying everyone's input today and the great hiking pics. I too LOVE to hike and be outdoors. It's just not even close having to workout in a gym. All work and no yippee, you know. I think I may have figured out a new goal...incorporate more hiking in my life!

Today was tough. Thank goodness I thought to pre-log, so I could cut back to smaller portions.4 -
@simonschange, you are amazing.
@am_change I like your gym pictures.
- yes x 3
Kitchen is closed. I got some cals left over.
Exercise; 5.8 miles in 59 minutes and that included stopping for a refreshment a few blocks before home. No climbing. That almost sounds like ten minute mile don't it. But not a big deal for a bicycle on the flat track. Fast for a runner. slow for a bike. (I walked to the bike shop then rode home.)

Watched part of my oldest son's workout tonight to see if I could learn anything new. Geez, he makes everything look like a cake walk! Ahhh, to be 20 again! He too is on MFP, but he only uses it to make sure he is getting enough calories. He better be because my pantry and refrigerator are empty! Love that kid, but time for him to get back to his college "all-inclusive meal plan"!2
