    Morning bbb

I don't get to start us off often, but I'm in the eastern time zone today and in an early flight.

Had a great training/discussion session with all of the district managers yesterday and now on the way home

Ron and I are going to dads this afternoon to paint the kitchen and get rid of some of the over the top country kitchen look mom was a fan of. Trying to simplify his life.

Going to see a junior high football game this afternoon if we make it in time.

YGTBSM? Don't get it. Probably don't want to either.
Bought 11 gallons of paint. That will get me started. Ceilings, trim and walls. A whole new look around here.
Btw, I LOVE a quiet house right now. The tv sound is under 50!!
Make it a marvelous day people!

    Haaa!!!!!

Morning Gang! Busy with Harvey/Irma.... No rest for the weary!

Anxious to hear if Lou is wearing pants to negotiate his offers from TWO employers.

Sorry - cannot help with bird problems, Sam. But how's the drama with DMIL chasing a new beau?

    Lee? Paging Doc Lee....

Any deployment news for you and Happy Jack, Raine?

Keep at it Mary! Tough days only make us more resilient. Hope today is a much better day for you!

    Cheers,

    Good Morning BBB.
Praying for all in Irma's path - oh my. Also for those in the PNW.
We woke up to temps in the 40s - oy!
Our task force submitted the requested response budget yesterday - that is further than they got for Harvey. Not sure if we will get deployed or what size "package" it will be if we are deployed but it would kill me to sit this one out too.
I'm with Lou - nice to have options.
    Sam - let's have a hummingbird update.
Kelly - are you paining the whole interior or just parts?
Lisa - again, your video is great - you are so relaxed and natural in front of the camera.
Lee - do trials start Saturday?
Steph - nice to get your dad cleaned up and simplified.
Mary - some customers are just greedy. I know the move will be a pita but you will get through it!
    Do good out there everyone.

    Good Morning!

How'd it go, Lou? I'm with Lou!

Mary, hang in there! I have moved businesses no less than three times. Most of the time, it involves working out of two places with split teams. Not fun! My prayers are with you. I'm willing to visit with you privately if you need any help or advice with moving the business.

    Have a great day!

    Good Morning,
DMIL is dressing better and keeps hair combed, I wonder how long it will last before she learns Bob is not interested in widows in neighborhood.
Did not see any hummingbirds in garage last night, either they got out or died. We have no trees in front of house, but plenty behind where we can always see a couple of hummingbirds.
Lou, hoping you have a fantastic job offer doing what you enjoy doing with an office where pants can be optional; my office has windows looking into hall but guess as long as I stayed seated they could be optional only thing is I may forget and jump up and run out without pants; would not be a decent scene.
Lee, hope you have a great day off and prepping with AB for trials.
Company moves are a PITA, recommend get details worked out and take vacation where others do the moving.
Safe travels Steph, anytime you want something to paint you can always come this way I want entire main floor redone.
Much cooler here and humidity is down also, windows open and air turned off. No rain unless Irma decides to visit along east coast.
    Enjoy the Day,
    Sam I am

    Mornin' BBB.

The crazy lives we BBBers lead. And then there was the hummingbird plague.

Had a new client tell me his regular vet across town was too busy to see him for another week for a cat that was being treated for a recurring problem. I'm booked out almost two weeks, but we leave a few spaces every day for urgent cases. "Too busy" for a regular client? I work straight through lunch and then spend over an hour doing call backs after finishing afternoon appointments. I'm thinking make hay when the sun is shining and build good will. Never know when lean times will hit.

$25,000 discount. I would like one of those. Good luck with Big Tobacco, Mary.

    Fingers crossed for Lou.

Sorry about the heat and fires, Dave. I know this may not be a popular opinion, but I believe in letting forests burn. Obviously protect people's homes, but fires replenish the landscape and its not worth risking the lives of firefighters. I do believe in preventing forest fires, just not fighting them.

    BBB OP ;-)

    Good morning BBB Friends.
    • Irma is looking nasty. There are a lot of condos on the FL coast that have never seen a hurricane direct hit. Especially not one like this.
    • Stay near the phone today Lou. Let's hope this is a great day.
    • I've been tracking for 3 weeks now and I must say if you keep within your points it works.
    • I don't know if it is the Android app or the new Galaxy S8 but tracking on the phone is great. I really like the bar code scanner.
    • Office moves are never fun, unless you get the new corner office.
    • Enjoy your day off Lee.

Smoke and fires and ashfall. Not good. I agree Lee mostly fires just need to burn. Trying to protect Multnomah Falls historic Lodge and such. Wearing mask some outdoors.
•Good luck Lou but wear pants.

    Good morning, folks.

The arrow on the map shows Puerta Plata where my SIL lives. The next several hours are going to be pretty tense for my brother while his wife rides out Irma. Prayers that she and her family ride this one out okay. They're about 10 minutes inland.

    Good morning BBB.

Fires have always been part of the landscape. South Puget Sound was first settled because of the open prairie land that made farming easy. The open prairie was there because Native Americans set them on fire every couple of years to keep the trees out. They wanted open space for plants they harvested. In parts of the inter-mountain West - Ponderosa pine country - lightning fires kept the understory clear and thus made the big trees immune to fire damage. That isn't what we have, now. The Columbia River Gorge is not a "natural" forest, it is one that we have grown because we love the way it looks. It is a place people like to visit and live there because of its beauty. It isn't a remote wilderness. And there is nothing natural about an idiot kid throwing fireworks off a cliff during a period of extreme fire danger.

I spent nine summers of my youth working fire protection with the Oregon State Forestry Department. I worked in the area then called the Tillamook Burn (look it up). A huge fire there in 1933 destroyed enough timber to supply the entire U.S. lumber needs for a century. I'm still passionate about it, I guess.

The interview this afternoon was canceled and will be rescheduled. So, I don't have to shave today. But, I'll still need to wear pants because I'm getting formally inducted into Rotary today and they'll be taking a picture.

The interviews went very well yesterday. I'd like to think I've run out of people to talk to, but I think I'm being naive.

Not shaving is just as good as pants free, IMHO! Then again, any day without a tie is just shear nirvana.
