1. EXERCISE EVERY DAY FOR AT LEAST 20 MINUTES.
Be active every day for the entire month. Even if it's just cleaning your house for 20 minutes, be active. Skip a cumulative 3 days of not meeting the activity, or calorie, or tracking or logging in requirements, and you are out of the winner's circle. If you are still committed to accountability...stay in the challenge.
2. CONSUME ONLY YOUR BUDGETED CALORIES.
Set a calorie goal for the day and don't exceed it. Eat ONLY your budgeted calories every day for the entire month. Skip a day and see #1 above.
3. TRACK EVERYTHING YOU EAT AND DRINK.
Keep track of ALL food and beverages consumed every day for the entire month. Skip a day and see #1 above.
4. CHECK IN.
Post in the "Sign-in" threads of this forum at least once every three days (preferably daily) to let the moderator know that you're still doing the challenge and that you haven't slipped up. Even if you are checking in only every three days, you still have to account for ALL days during the month. SIGN-INS ARE LISTED UNDER THE DISCUSSION SECTION - click on "All Discussions" if you don't see the current sign-in date displayed on the list. They're all there!
5. "I PASS" DAYS
You are allowed three "pass" days for the month. You may use a pass day if you are unable to complete the daily challenge due to illness or other circumstances. There is a 3-day pass day limit for the month. If you exceed three pass days, you will be out the end of the month, Winner's Circle, but you are not out of the Challenge. If you need to use a pass day, report it in the sign in thread for that date. For example:
Date: (State the date)
Pass day
5. Post using the following format (feel free to copy and paste):
Date: (State the date)
Exercised?: Yes or No is OK, but if you are comfortable, tell us what you did and for how long. It's just more interesting!
Calories?: Yes or No
Tracked?: Yes or No
Account for every day of the month. If you can get to a computer only once every three days, your post needs to look something like this:
January 1
Exercised?: Yes. Walked at 2 mph for 30 minutes.
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
January 2
Exercised?: Yes. Kicking it to Kid Rock and shaking it to Santana for half hour.
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
January 3
Exercised?: Yes. Active horseback riding for 55 minutes.
Calories?: Yes.
Tracked?: Yes.
6. Post only AFTER you have completed your day.
7. Every once in a while, stop by the "Introductions and Updates" thread and let us know how you're doing or respond to someone who has posted there.
8. Be honest. If you slip up, and you are out of the Winner's Circle, you can still choose to continue to be accountable. for the month. All of this is done on the honor system. The moderator does not check diaries. If you choose to cheat, you are only cheating yourself.
Good luck!

so for the daily calories does that include exercise calories or just your base calories. How do you determine your calorie intake?

I think you determine your calorie goal- so you decide whether to include exercise or not but whatever you do you’re accountable for that...(I think!)3

Looking forward to it! Thanks for opening and keeping up on this group0

The great thing about this challenge is that it's simultaneously very flexible, and extremely well-defined. If you want to set your calorie goals on a changing basis, by the movement of the stars, different for the weekends and workdays, or whatever-- go for it. If you want to do 20 minutes of weightlifting-- great. Or 20 minutes of jazzercise. Or 20 minutes of hustling around your house with a broom. But if you don't meet your goal, then you didn't pass the challenge for that day.
The other great thing is that the members of the group are supportive and interesting!5 -
So this sounds great and exactly what I'm looking for. I would have loved to join! Sadly (in terms of participating in this challenge), I intentionally build rest days into my exercise schedule, usually once a week. If there's any flexibility there, let me know and I'll be in.1

@ka97 The point is to be active everyday. Walking slowly if you need to 10 minutes here--10 minutes there. @RangerRickL mentions housecleaning in the rules. We all can do something everyday, It's about getting into healthy routines that we can follow the rest of our lives not just for a weight loss goal. You get 3 pass days a month you can use. It sounds like you have a great exercise schedule. Rest days from your normal exercise routine doesn't have to mean you aren't active in some way
What have you got to lose? --maybe a bit of weight if that is what you want. What have you got to gain?--accountabiliy and a great group of people that's there for you. This is my fourth month and I'm seeing some very positive changes,4 -
@windowqueen2003 I get it, and I'm in. It's just a different mindset - I would consider things like housecleaning normal daily life. But I can do it.2
-
@ka97 I would too. I rarely use it. As they say the more you put into it the more you get out if it. That's the beauty of this challenge.
Glad to have you here!!0
