I never used to listen to music when I run (and I still don't for trail running) but somewhere along the line I created a playlist and now I'll listen to music about half the time I'm running pavement, particularly on long runs. I'm always looking for new songs. If you've got a playlist, please share it here.
On my playlist are many, many songs I'd never listen to otherwise, but for whatever reason, I enjoy running to them. Of course, there are many songs I like listening to any time, any where.
My music service of choice is Google Music. I'm not sure what you'll be able to see if you don't have a subscription, but here's mine:

I NEED music on my runs. I even create playlists to match my goal times for races... i know i should be crossing the finish line when "x" plays. My favorite bands to run to are Blink 182, Mayday Parade, Frank Turner, Neck Deep, My Chemical Romance, Panic!, American Authors, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, and State Champs (to name a few:) )2

@7Lenny7- I am not sure how to post my playlist form my itunes, but I just wanted to comment that I like your playlist. I have quite a number of playlists that I alternate between, but we share quite a few songs between them and a good number of bands. I have to say though, I was kind of floored to see that you have Choctaw Bingo on your place list. I would have sworn that I was the only person in the world that runs to that song.1

@7lenny7 --- I feel lost without music on my runs, but like @lporter229 I go back and forth with several playlists... kind of depends on my mood. Sometimes I play hard/metal if I am running angry, lol, or I have a club mix that has some really good beats... I even run to country or christian/worship music, but those are rare occasions. When I first started running last year, I did a search for good running songs and found some of these on there, so I do have a "running" playlist, but haven't used it in a while... kind of has some music from different decades, so that was kind of cool... https://play.google.com/music/playlist/AMaBXykJfpGIZk_-eB8BaA5twfT8bR1uZV8hOuq4yXQPkOfMaDSOWKkXpN09kdP9IgTmfn_jjCcNqe2cv62uHr6z7EfhUDQGaA==
Honestly, a lot of my playlists have been created from a particular song I like and then utilize the Google Radio feature based on that song and if I dig it, I will create a playlist from it.
@bjderhak -- the ALT Nation on XM radio was doing a Happy Emo Halloween-o yesterday and I think almost all of those artists were featured...1 -

Play Music is awesome! I have numerous playlists, but usually I just grab a preset based on a certain band. Majority of the time it's fairly heavy, but sometimes I switch over to EDM as well.
Ever used YouTube Music and grabbed live sets? That works great too1 -
Happy Hardcore. Keeps me on pace, keeps me moving forward, and makes me feel that runner's high before the high actually kicks in. It's not for everyone, but man is it for me.0

Spotify is my friend! Like @lporter229 & @rusgolden, I have several different playlists, and they are always changing.
One is Big Beat: Overseer, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Crystal Method etc. (have to admit, this one's my fave)
Another is Rock: Rammstein, Electric Mary, Clutch, Godsmack, Nine Inch Nails, Judas Priest etc
Then I have a "Poppy" one: Black Eyed Peas, Pussycat Dolls, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga etc
And another one is a COMPLETE mixture, different genres, eras, styles: Bruno Mars, Kiss, Eminem, ZZ Top, Chris Cagle, KC & Sunshine Band, Rammstein, Pink etc.0 -

I listen to Pandora's Running Radio - it is heavy on Imagine Dragons, Fitz and the Tantrums, American Authors... But I will also listen to rock music. Disturbed, Volbeat, Metallica - they all get me going.1
