Sticking to your weight loss program despite festive temptations

Options
The festive season is known to be a time of indulgence with your favourite holiday foods in abundance at every get-together you attend. Here are some tips to help keep your diet program to lose weight on track during the festive season.

Cold turkey won’t work

This is not a reference to the leftover turkey slices you are tempted to eat straight from the fridge on Boxing Day. Indulgent food is a part of the holidays and if you have will power of steel, by all means, skip it entirely.

However, we mere mortals can’t let the festive season go by without taking part in some traditional meals. As long as you stick to your diet eating plan while you are going about your day-to-day business you should manage just fine.

Do not deny yourself a gingerbread man with a glass of milk on Christmas Eve, this is not enough to throw your weight loss off track. If you do not indulge your cravings in moderation the hunger pangs and temptation will take over and you are more likely to overindulge.

Everything in moderation

Moderation, like all weight loss efforts, should always be in effect. Even if you are surrounded by Christmas cookies, eat one, not twelve. This will help keep your weight loss in check because the biggest problem is over indulging over a period of one to two weeks.

Easy on the Hooch

Alcohol is filled with empty calories that can well throw your weight loss off track, along with your sense of balance and inhibition. This loss of inhibition may cause you to throw caution to the wind entirely and abandon your responsible holiday eating.

Don’t skip meals

We have all done it; you skip breakfast because you are going to your Grandmother’s house and there will be plenty of food so you don’t want to fill up beforehand. This does more damage than good when it comes to sticking to a diet program to lose weight during the holidays. If you eat a healthy breakfast to satiate your appetite you are less likely to snack on hors d’oeuvres that are not part of your diet eating plan.

There’s always next year

Should your weight loss be stunted by the holiday season you can join a weight loss program to get back on track and start the next year off right with a new diet eating plan for a new you!
