As martial artists who are also members of a WL and fitness website, it can be helpful for us to remain accountable to each other, and share training ideas.

Any time you participate in class, or practice out side of class, post here and let everyone know. You can write something as simple as "Went to sparring class... got my licks in", or get into as much detail on the practice as you'd like.

This post gets rebuilt every week, to remind us to approach each practice/training/class with a fresh perspective:

- Do today what others won't, so tomorrow you can do what others can't.

Black belt class yesterday was a lot of fun... Got to spar a few folks I hadn't in a while. I am working quite a bit on being fluent fighting both right and left lead. It was a LOT of work the first few weeks, with a lot of very awkward moments and missed opportunities, but yesterday was the first day that I started to feel like I can score somewhat well from either lead stance, front or back foot. Still need to work on hands a bit more, as my brain still tries to arrange combinations on a per-side basis rather than a front to back basis, and I want to start incorporating spin kicks on my off side while sparring, which is something I've never really worked on before. Once I'm comfortable with that, it'll probably be time to revisit distance control.

Also worked on board breaks - I did a fair amount of coaching on these for others that are getting ready for their tests, as well as start working on mine for 5th - just pad work for now, though I will start putting up some boards in the next few weeks.

Last class of the year tonight. In the traditions of all master instructors everywhere, the chief sneaked in a lot of extra conditioning drills and games in the adults' open class to pre-empt the physical effects on students who plan to spend the next two weeks vegging out in front of the TV with mince pies, i.e. me and everyone else. Still fun though.
