    Hi all, been a while since I've appeared here! I've lost about a stone since I last took part in the monthly challenge (some time in summer I think?) and life has changed an awful lot - all for the better though.

    I'm setting a very gentle goal this month as there's going to be some more upheaval, including starting a new job (again!) in 2 weeks - actually back at the employer I left in August, but in a very different department and a wildly different role - NOT WORKING IN FINANCE!!!!! Finally, after 11 years of hating Finance jobs, I have got my out! :smiley::smiley::smiley:

    One thing that has been a struggle in the job I've had for the last 4 months is that there are no fridges or kitchens here so I've had to buy my lunch every day, meaning I haven't had real control, although I've tried to make educated guesses and have lost a stone so obviously did ok. It will be nice (and cheaper!) to go back to taking my own food and will make it possible to plan properly again.

    In 2017 I lost 26lb. 37lb lost since my heaviest, last time I was at that weight was Feb 2016. Slow progress perhaps, but significant (past that 'magic' 10%!), and in often very difficult circumstances.

    In 2018 I'm determined to lose at least double that. Hopefully I can push on to the 75lb needed to reach my initial goal!

    Yay Jen welcome back! Really good to see you again :D I can't believe you're swapping job again haha - good luck with it ^_^ Whilst I work from home I feel you on the fridges front since our fridgefreezer broke in December and it took almost three weeks for us to get it replaced which was a food nightmare as you can probably imagine! I've got my first check in tomorrow. Not sure i'll see much yet as it's only been 2 days of behaving so far haha. I'm hoping for some good numbers week two though!

    Well that's unexpected! I thought I'd done well this week. Then again I got my period today so that is probably at least partly responsible.

    I'm unexpectedly having dental surgery today, there was a cancellation so I got offered the slot on short notice. It means I'll be on smoothies and soups for the week. Which probably means I'll be hungry and take on way too many calories. But the experience may help me to eat less once I'm back on solids.

    Good work Pidge and Sue! Nothing wrong with maintaining and every pound lost is fantastic ☺

    Oooh hope the dentist visit went well Jen! And fantastic work Jan! What a great loss for week one! I'm sliiiightly concerned for my second weigh in now as I did a sneaky weigh (I try not to do it other than weigh ins but sometimes I'm too curious :P ) and it's still the same! I don't really get it as I've gone from eating loads of take out and drinking loads of alcohol and not moving to doing at least some cycling, drinking once a week and staying under calorie goal maybe 80% of the time (and not going crazy over the other days). Gonna have to go hardcore mode next week!! Fingers crossed I can get at least 1lb off by Thurs weigh in ^_^

    Hooray we're finally moving! I'm actually extra happy about this one because I mad a horrible discovery yesterday - for at least the last week I'd been drinking a lot of non-diet orangeade by mistake (hundreds of extra calories a day) -_- Will be giving that away and ordered the right kind now lol. So yeah, big diet derp but might explain why things were going a little slowly considering I felt like I was doing well haha.

    Hey gang, just here to send some encouragement! I'm just trying to maintain and maybe lose a smidge in anticipation of upcoming surgeries and subsequent major inactivity (and therefore possible gain). Hi-fives @jhinae26 and @janisfiddlesticks and @gnawcraft! Way to get back at it @gin_rummy and EVERYONE! Here's wishing all of us a happy and healthy 2018.

    @brookielaw hope everything goes well for you. Doctor told my mom if she can't exercise then diet has to be nearly perfect... we are big on comfort eating so that stinks

    Well it's a loss since last week so I'll take it. My scale is flashing low battery, must remember to get a new one before the weekend.

    I started my new job today and have a FRIDGE and MICROWAVE available at work - so I am back to taking my own lunches instead of playing guessing games in a cafeteria! This will definitely make it MUCH easier to plan and to log and to eat well.

I was tempted to lie because I'm so embarrassed about my constant failure -_- I would love to end the month under 290 and there is still time.. I must really get my *kitten* together. Sigh!
