Morning!
Heat wave yesterday. Temps soared in to the Low 50"s.... Was able to get out and get Hot Tub shocked and cleaned....
Pics from realtor came in yesterday. They still need to be cropped - but its another check in the many list of boxes.
Steve H - how is DS doing? Meant to ask a few days ago. Any improvements?
Lou - glad you made the trek to see niece. Enjoy the new gig! Did Elmer T Lee survive the joyous party?

Skip, thanks for asking. Nothing has changed. He'd rather go without cigs than try to really find a job. I just don't know what to do. Being nice does not work, yelling does not work, threatening does not work. Very heavy sigh.... He rarely leaves the house. It affects Connie and I, as Connie feels there is no privacy in the house, so marital relations seem limited, or forced, and that just adds to overall stress. Sometimes I think that well, he's just 24, don't worry about it too much, but then I think, that I've been working since I was 11, and Connie and I both moved out of home when we were 18. Simply don't know what to do, so nothing gets done. Argh.....
Still super busy at work. I MUST get the 2017 payroll tied out today, so that we can enter 2018 tomorrow. Software won't let you skip ahead until the first step is done. Yesterday just seemed like one long interruption with meetings in between. Today will be better!

66 yesterday, 57 on drive in this morning. rain coming Friday then back to cold temps for weekend.
Doctor visit yesterday ended with him saying he did not know how to address thyroid issues, blood test show high thyroid in which I should be way under weight yet I'm very clearly overweight. getting at least 3 hours exercise per week and following WW's Freestyle will see another doctor next Tuesday. Bet I get referred to someone else.
Congrats Lou on joining the working stiffs club. Enjoy your last few days of freedom.
Skip, I do not envy anyone having to go through the selling process but move is worst.

Had an enjoyable evening at my wood turning club last night. Maybe I'll get in the shop and make something, today. Creating is therapeutic.
I am better than I was (I think) but still congested and coughing. Probably need to see a doc again.

So, day one will be at a planning retreat in Monticello, IL. I Googled it to learn that it's near Champaign, IL - somewhere around the middle of the state. That's all I know. I don't know where in Monticello I'm going. I don't know how long the retreat will be. I don't know if there's an agenda. I'll go in unprepared and not knowing anyone. So, this ought to be fun.
Hang in there, Steve. Hell eventually have his C2J moment. The self-cutting of expenses is actually an encouraging sign. And what payroll solution are you using that makes you finalize one year before processing payroll on the next? That seems brutal to finalize in that quick a turn - especially if a company paid employees weekly or something.
Skip - the Elmer T Lee came out of the experience pretty well. It's not a cheap bottle, so I only had one glass. My "regular" bourbon - Evan Williams - is a quarter the price. Of course, before losing my job, my regular was Woodford; but sacrifices needed to be made..
I'm hoping to have lunch today with friends from the old job. If I can't, then I'll be forced to paint the other bathroom today. I would find that displeasing.0 -

Headed to the store closest to home today then a conference call to cover all the documents I have been working on with the group of store manager leaders. I expect lots of feedback then will have edits.
In the upper 40's yesterday and today but back to 10 and snow on Thursday so will work from home all day.

Lou, sounds like a fun little retreat!
Lou, we use Microsoft Dynamics GP. I have to double check the final 2017 numbers before I can load the 2018 tax tables. I don't have to run the W-2s, 941, FUTA, SUTA, or anything, but I won't be able to adjust 2017 after changing tax tables. I just validated all of the payroll, so I can "lock the numbers in" now. At 100 employees, we still do payroll in house, rather than source it out. Ugh. We have bi-weekly payroll, first up is 1/12/18. Thanks for the encouraging words regarding my son.0 -
