I started a second job and will be training full time at the hospital for 2 weeks. They have a gym there with only a Smith machine :ohwell: and a few dumbbells. I don't want to take the two weeks off and lose progress, so I've decided to suck it up and see if I can do my workouts with the Smith. Does anyone have an idea what my weight would be using it???
(Heavy day)
Squat: 60 lbs
Bench Press: 55 lbs
Bent Over Row: 55 lbs
Shoulder Press: 45 lbs
SLDL: 70 lbs
Curl: 45 lbs

As I understand it, a Smith Machine not only guides the path of the movement, but also assists in lifting the weight itself a bit. If that is the case you should be able to go a bit heavier then with free weights. Just an uneducated guess from my part though. Perhaps someone else will chime in as well :drinker:0

I've used one once. It's been a while, but I do remember it was a little awkward trying to squat and I had to add more weight. I just didn't know if anyone had a general idea how much more I would need to add. I will only be able to go at lunch hour and didn't want to muck around wasting workout time.0
