base mileage

I'm going to register for half marathon that will be on Feb. 23rd and will start official training at the end of November/beginning of December. I've been on a bit of running break for the past 4 months, running 5 miles per week tops. I need to get back to running now before I officially start training. What is a good mileage base to build up to so I can be ready to train? This will be my 2nd half marathon...I'm not speedy so I'm not expecting a sub-2:00 or anything. Better than 2:40 would be nice, since was my first half time. Thanks for any tips!!

Since you have the time, i'd recommend running a spring training style protocol before commiting to a actual half marathon plan. You'll be in really good shape for your race http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51268/Spring-Running-Training-Program0
