It's here folks...
starts tomorrow with the Trofeo-Laigueglia, the early season Italian Semi-Classic. As a semi-classic event, there's no bonus points available, just "points for pedalling" - i.e. 1st to 14th get points in the usual scale, 15th and every other rider participating get 1point for actually getting out there.
As it's the first event of the year, here's the points scale:
Usual rules apply, outdoor rides recorded on GPS, verifiable via Strava, entries submitted in the "event thread" over in Gears Steers and Cheers on Farcebook...
Weather forecast for my locale looks more conducive to events from the Winter Olympics than bike riding - hovering around freezing point, with 20-40mph winds...
Whatever you do folks, however far or near you ride, stay safe, keep the rubber side down and try not to leave any DNA samples on the tarmac.

busy weekend coming up guys and gals...
Omloop Het Nieuwsblad on Saturday, followed by the Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne on Sunday.
Traditionally, the "real" races have been plagued by horrible weather, as kind of befits the start of the Flemish Spring Campaign...
if you want any info on the races, then click http://www.omloophetnieuwsblad.be/en/ohn/elite-men/race for saturday or https://www.kuurne-brussel-kuurne.be/ for the sunday race.
As always folks, keep safe out there... Rubber Side Down and all that...
looks chilly in the forecast Chez-Yin...

well - a few hardy souls got out for Le Samyn this Tuesday. I wasn't one of them - thoroughly snowed off, and looking like that might be the case for this Saturdays "proper" classic...
it's the Strade Bianche folks...
Remember, in addition to the polar bear points, it's a proper classic, so there's 3 points for a proper "beaten limestone" gravel road, 2 points for a "ordinary" gravel road, and 1 point for just any "offroad" - Towpath, Bridleway, mud-fest, or snowfield. Theres also 1 point for suitably "italian" refreshments - 1 point each for food and drink. Management's decision is final as to if the food/drink qualifys - as per usual - give it a try, I'm usually quite generous if you TRY and participate.
