Hi All, I had sleeve surgery 3/14. I lost a total of 80 lbs (from 235lbs to 155lbs). Evened off at 160-165lbs. Was comfortable there, but then put on 20 lbs. when I broke my ankle (185lbs). I'm down to 173lbs now. 8 lbs. more to go to reach goal of 165lbs. Issue now is that I am losing my hair - it's getting thinner. Every day when I shower I lose hair. I've resorted to sprinkling on a hair filler to cover my scalp. I had beautiful hair. I'm so discouraged. I take Biotin and my vitamins. Has this happened to anyone and if so, how can I make this reverse.

@capecodgirl50 I'm assuming 3/14 means March 2014? IMHO, I don't think your hair loss has to do with surgery. Hair loss tends to occur in the 6-12 months after surgery. Then it eventually stops. Taking bioten and vitamins MAY help but there's no scientific evidence that it does. I think the best thing you can do is make sure you're eating plenty of whole foods. The body utilizes nutrients better from food. You didn't mention your age. People's hair does tend to thin as they age.

I had vsg in March 2015 and did notice hair loss at about 6 months. Then a few months later it stopped and I haven't had any issue since. Other than tweeking your diet you may need to see a specialist about it.

I am 67. I did go to my dermatologist. She said it could be hereditary. My father lost his hair in his 30s. But I am so upset about it. By whole foods, what do you mean?
