Anyone ever do South Beach? I've been recommended to do it from another friend with PCOS since i need to change to low GI foods. Interested in thoughts!

  • I've done South Beach before and while you do see results quickly, the first week can be really tough! I get shaky, headaches, tiredness and more pale... my husband gets super cranky when he does it! After the first week of phase one, though, we begin to feel much better and cravings for carbs and sweets go way down.

My husband struggles with self control and monitoring what he eats when on a diet, so for him SB works well because there is a list of yes and no foods and amounts that he can follow. For me, (when I decide to watch what I eat) I have an easier time with food choice and portion control so SB isn't a necessary jump start.

I have read a lot about eating low GI foods to help with PCOS and since I'm newly diagnosed and ttc, I figure it's worth a try and if I feel weak in phase 1, I'll eat some items from phase 2 since I'm already a healthy weight.
