In the weekly Warrior Mini-Goal Challenge focus on your "short term goals"

Focusing on one week at a time, when the big picture seems too overwhelming. Small changes can bring on big results!!

Choose one or more things you want to work on for just this week. Don't set it too high or unreachable!!

Please, make sure your week works for you. Sun to Sat or Mon to Sun, whatever is YOUR week!

You can reach your main goal if you break it into small actionable steps. It could be as easy as 1-2-3!

1) Choose something you know you can do easily.

2) Add more difficult tasks to your plan.

3) These small steps will get you started, motivated & help build routine for long term success!!

Anyone interested in joining us for another week, or a first week, or a get back on track week?

Check in often, have a great week and do the best you can! :)

    Hi everyone!

This week I want to focus on increasing the distance that I can run before having to drop to a walk. I've been going twice around the block before walking half a lap. I'm going to try 2.5 laps / half lap circuits, and hopefully increase it to 3/1 or even 4/1 by the end of the week.

Monday will be grocery shopping and my kickboxing class. Tuesday I have a dentist appointment and I'm going to try to get to a strength class and apply for my summer job - which means I should print out the application Monday and fill it out. Wednesday is open! Hurray! Thursday might be another strength class. Friday I'm ushering at the theater. And then next weekend is COMPLETELY open. I'm really looking forward to having my evenings open, at least for a little while!

Quote for the week: A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. - Christopher Reeve

Do your best, and be kind to yourself, warriors!

Molly- thanks for getting the thread up and running. I know you can have a good week.

Clicketykeys- I admire your running goal and the plan you have to achieve it. sounds like a busy week and a good plan. thanks for your quote.

My goals remain the same. Increase step average to 5,000 daily and do 2 workouts. my calories and fat grams have continued to be within my goals so I am going to just concentrate on activity.

    Have a great week all.

    As of Monday:
    1) Physical Activity 3x
    2) 3 servings of veggies
    3) At least 70g protein
    4) 2L water
    5) Eat under 1600 calories

I'm keeping my goals mostly the same but bumping my calories to 1600 and my protein to 70g. I am only 5 pounds from my current goal, but I still want to drop body fat % and lose about 1.5" from my waist. I hate to admit, my goal weight might be a little high for my frame but mostly I need more muscle. Everything is still just... well-padded.

I've tried on SO many dresses lately to try to find something for my niece's wedding and I'm still just really unhappy with how my body looks. Still a size Large in some styles, which would be fine if I felt good in them. I'm actually pretty happy with how I look in jeans now, which I wear 360 days a year, but trying to dress up makes me a crazy person. Why is it so hard to find something that isn't sleeveless and covers my knees, and age appropriate but not matronly, but still cute? I haven't seen any of my family in about a year so I want to show off my weight loss without looking hoochie.

    Hello Warriors!!

Great goals!! Bad week for me last week. Up a bit....back on it this week.

@cjsacto - have you tried maxi dresses. On your pictures you look tall and I bet you would look great in maxi dress with your height. There are some very cute stylist maxi dresses that can be dressed up or down. and definitely not hochie and age appropriate. You can dress it up with some nice jewelry. Cheap or not so cheap  Pearls and turquoise dress up anything.

    @clicketykeys - thanks for quote!

@cjsacto have you thought about a short dress over leggings? I have a couple of dresses that would be scandalous but over leggings they work like tunics.

    As of Monday:
    1) Physical Activity 3x - 1/7
    2) 3 servings of veggies - 1/7
    3) At least 70g protein - 0/7
    4) 2L water - 0/7
    5) Eat under 1600 calories - 1/7

Thanks for the advice, @clicketykeys and @IsMollyReallyHungry. I carry a lot of weight in my legs so I have never worn leggings except for exercise or around the house. I have tried maxi dresses, that was my original thought. Somehow though it's a short trip for me from too form fitting to frumpy and too loose and the maxi dresses I tried just weren't special. I ordered and returned one online that I thought would look elegant but on me it was drab. Anyway... I did find a dress yesterday! It is sleeveless and has a lot of fabric at the hips but I just love the fabric/color so much I'm going with it. And it's a size six!!! And was $180, I got it for $20. It's high-low so a touch above the knees in front but hides the backs of my knees. I'll have to wear nylons. Now for the shoes. With my foot and ankle issues it's very hard to find something comfortable, plus I'm taller than my SO and he's a little sensitive about that so I don't want too high. I know I'm really obsessing about this one outfit. My family isn't particularly judgmental about appearance but I grew up as the ONLY heavy one in the family and I've never been a healthy weight before. I'm putting a lot of pressure on the dress to make a new impression on ppl who have known me almost 50 years, lol.

Sorry for rambling. Thanks for being here!

Unless it's a REALLY fancy-fancy shindig and it wouldn't be appropriate, I'd go for a pair of Toms or Converse in a fun color or pattern. Playful, comfortable, and flat!

    As of Tuesday:
    1) Physical Activity 3x - 2/7
    2) 3 servings of veggies - 2/7
    3) At least 70g protein - 0/7
    4) 2L water - 0/7
    5) Eat under 1600 calories - 2/7

@clicketykeys What a fun idea! I am not clear how fancy it will be, afternoon wedding with evening reception at a winery venue but my people are not the fancy type, usually. That's part of the reason I had a hard time picking a dress - not sure if more appropriate for afternoon sundress or evening cocktail style.

I promise, no more dress talk! My goal for this week should be to get my work stuff done and pull off an event this weekend. (Wedding is still several weeks away.)

Happy Wednesday! Warriors. Great work so far this week.

cjsacto- that dress looks great on you. I say as far as shoes, wear what is comfortable. I hope you can get your work stuff done. keep up the good work with your goals.

Hi Molly- how is it going this week. good, bad or in between doesn't matter. today you can make good choices. have a good day. good job so far this week with steps and exercise.

clicketykeys- how did the beginning of your week workout with grocery shopping and with increasing your running? keep going strong.

My goals of steps and exercise have not been fulfilled. I will keep trying.

@forestrose910 what seems to hold you back from meeting your steps goal? Is it a physical impairment, a time issue, depression, obligations? You often get SO CLOSE! Have you thought about lowering your goal a little and seeing if you can start making a smaller goal with more regularity?

@cjsacto I sure as anything don't mind about the dress talk! I'd love to see some final pictures of what you end up going with!

Good job @IsMollyReallyHungry - glad to see some progress there!

Got the grocery shopping done and have done my AM runs every day this week. Did NOT get to the gym yesterday for strength training. But I'm under on my cals and steadily losing, or at least it seems like it!

    As of Wednesday:
    1) Physical Activity 3x - 3/7
    2) 3 servings of veggies - 3/7
    3) At least 70g protein - 1/7
    4) 2L water - 0/7
    5) Eat under 1600 calories - 3/7

The exercise I've gotten this week has been pretty mild but I'm doing a little something. Haven't made it to yoga yet. Somehow not having as hard a time with controlling the calories so far this week.

@forestrose910 You still have time this week to hit those goals. I know I have goals I rarely hit, but still do better working towards them by setting them, if that makes sense.

@clicketykeys Sounds like you're in a zone with steadily losing, awesome! Good for you for getting am runs in, that takes dedication.
I'll definitely share the final result of all my shopping when I pull it all together.

@IsMollyReallyHungry Looks like you got a good start on your week, hope all going well.

cjsacto - I just have to say --- you look great in sooo many of those dresses girlfriend!!! You need to stop saying you do not look good in dresses.... With those legs and height!! WOW!! I love your choice too.... But I was looking at all of the other snapshots and you look great in most of those shots to me. Girl I could talk fashion all day long lol. I just took some material to a lady to make me a dress for an event. She is reasonable and the material was a gift. I have to send a TY card for it! Your friends will have to do a double LOOK if they are not used to seeing you all glammed up! OHooo I love it! Wish I could see their faces... ok used up my time looking at the fashions lol so I will have to come back later to finish up...knock them dead is all I can say!

BTW - no gym shoes lol.... that would kill the affect but I am into comfort though and even though I can't wear heals like that I do wear a comfortable flat :)

I also think the shorter dresses vs maxi look better on you for sure. Do you wear contacts for special occasions? I used to wear them many moons ago, now I just don't have the patience lol

    2) 3 servings of veggies - 4/7
    3) At least 70g protein - 2/7
    4) 2L water - 1/7 finally!
    5) Eat under 1600 calories - 4/7

@IsMollyReallyHungry Thanks for the kind words, I liked a couple of them but nitpick the flaws I guess. I never wear heels like in the photo, the sales lady talked me into trying them but I'll be getting flats. To answer your question, yes, I'll wear contacts. I wore them most of the time for years but now I have to have progressives and wear reading glasses on top of them so I don't bother very often. You're having a great week, nice going! So exciting to have a dress custom made for you, how cool! What a nice gift of the material. So with someone making the dress, you can pick exactly how it fits and the style, that's awesome.

Happy Friday!! Lets keep things going through the weekend.

clicketykeys-great that you are under calories and losing. shows you are on the right path.

to answer your question regarding my roadblocks. I guess I would say all of the above but those are excuses. I do have a hip issue which comes and goes and have been busy and been lazy. I have lowered my goal from what I used to do and 5,000 needs to be it so I can then move up from there. because of my hip and knee pain, I am limited in what I can do and getting to the gym would be a good help.

I have been wondering why since my normal daily activity hasn't decreased all that much why my steps have decreased so dramatically. I felt like my pedometer wasn't always measuring all my steps. but when I tested it, it seemed good. but then the last two days it has gone wonky. yesterday it wiped out all my steps for the day and then suddenly I have over 3,000. so I bought a fitbit. it won't make me move more but I will feel like every thing is counted.

cjsacto- I agree with Molly. You did look great in all of those choices. the heels do look nice but you are so wise to go with flats. You are doing an excellent job with your goals this week. keep up the great work. thanks for your support with regards to my goals. I will keep working.

Molly- Way to get to those goals this week. You should be very proud of yourself. keep it going.

Well, so much for losing. *sigh* Over the past couple of days my weight has swung back up again. I *think* it's because of that TOM - at least I hope so! I mean, I *know* there's no way that I ate 10k over maintenance, but since I'm not tracking I really don't have a way to know where my weight "should" be.

forestrose - if you have joint issues, a treadmill is definitely helpful for getting steps in. You've got an even surface instead of the blips and bumps even on a paved road. There's also a little bit of cushion on the machine, and you can set it to a pace that's comfortable for you.

Molly are we gonna get to see pictures of you in that dress once it's done? :D

    <3 to all!

    Hello Warriors!! Happy happy Friday!!

It is has been a hectic month end. lol @clicketykeys...I am not that brave.. I use to have all of my dresses custom made when I was much bigger. Now that is not necessary. It has been years since I have had something made. The lady who use to sew for me gave me the material because she is getting her some stuff made now. She stopped sewing years ago and I have so many options now. 1.) I lost a lot of weight and 2.) they are making plus sizes bigger and more stylish also. Back in the day the stuff was so old fashioned and my Mom finally had to find some to sew for me because I refused to wear the stuff in stores that was too old fashioned for a young girl. I called it old lady clothes. :( Oh I remember those days fondly and sadly if that makes since - bless my Mom who has passed.

Any hooo, flats are fine. That is what I wear. dressy, semi dressy or casual just no gym shoes  lol

Have a great weekend everyone! Hope @goldthistime is ok

Thought I was under calories yesterday but I realized I forgot to log something. Over today, too.

@IsMollyReallyHungry You're having an awesome week. I'd love to see a photo too... I get what you mean about larger sizes, especially a while ago. I know in my 20s I wore a few that were really styled for someone much older.

@clicketykeys Fluctuations like that can be really frustrating, but of course you didn't have 10k extra calories. It'll dip back down!

@forestrose910 I've thought about buying a fitbit or similar so many times. How do you like it? I know sometimes pedometers can be way off. Which fitbit did you get? (I don't know that much about the different models.)

Work event today. No snafus but turnout was lower than I hoped, just ok. (I think I was the only one disappointed, my bosses seemed happy.) It was a science day in the park for kids and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Event days are pretty physical and exhausting, couldn't resist pizza and a soda after, not doing myself any favors. This was the 9th event of the year... one more small event next week, but then NONE for 60 days, yay.
