May (2018)

WELCOME to all walkers!

May is here! And time to start a another new monthly challenge! Surely beautiful flowers and spring are finally here! You know.... April showers bringing all of those beautiful May flowers that we looked forward to last month. Hopefully we shall have some extra sunshine to brighten our days, as well as our outdoor walks B)

Having Leslie's, or other walking DVDs, to pop in the player continues to be a great alternative to walking outdoors. Because of the warmer weather walking or hiking outdoors will be a pleasant alternative to the DVDs for those who enjoy getting their miles, minutes, or steps in outdoors. Especially after the long winter or extra rains many of us have had.

This group is open to any and all walkers. The majority of us use Leslie Sansone Walk At Home DVD workouts, as well as those great walks or hikes outside on the trails or pathways that are available to us, or a walk in our neighborhood, and on the treadmill, as well as other Walking DVDs. All of these many options count toward our miles, minutes, and steps. However you get your walk in, come on in and join us! Post your miles that you have walked, however you do it... it is all good!

We are a happy, supportive group, and I promise that joining this walk challenge will motivate, challenge, as well as inspire you! o:)

Set your goal for how many miles, minutes, or steps that you want to walk, indoors or out, this month. This is your own personal goal :star:. Post your results daily, weekly, or whenever you like.

If you find this challenge in the middle of the month it doesn't matter which day of the month that you join in. Just set your goals to reflect what you want to walk for the remaining days in the month. You are always welcome :) !
So if you are new to the group please feel free to start today so that by the end of the month you will be that much closer to your health and fitness goals. It is never too late to join in.

It is always fun to read which DVD, whether Leslie or another instructor, that you used. Or whatever form your walk took, whether outdoors, on the treadmill, or anything in between. We all could use some new inspiration sometimes, or inquiring minds sometimes just want to know. So please share if you would care to :p . (pretty please ;) )

Come on in and let us start walking the Monthly Walk Challenge together. I am truly grateful for each one of our precious walkers who continue to inspire and motivate mile by mile, and step by step, each month.

And now... let us lace up those walking shoes and get our water... and we will begin to walk into May of 2018!

Blessings,
texasgardnr :flowerforyou:

Good Morning and Happy May Day! We have showers here in central Maine, but tomorrow it is supposed to get up to 80 degrees!!! I, for one, am really looking forward to sporting a healthy glow after working up a good "glisten" in the garden!

I'm raising my April goal of 1200 minutes to 1250 for the month of May. Happy walking to all. Cathy B.

I am in and I just need to walk daily. So I am not going to focus on the miles just the fact I walked. So day 1 is a yes ;)

What are the odds that both commodes in our home would quite working on the same day?? :o Well, at least I will get some walking in at the hardware store this evening.

    Walk Strong, everyone!

@AnnofB, the odds are probably huge that it would happen to both on the same day. Uggg :noway: .

@2020pinktogo, excellent goal! It is wonderful to make goals that work best for ourselves or situations!

    @berardellicm6, @Deeder522, and @PinkyPan1 great goals!

May 1st: 180 minutes yard, garden, or porch. Today I was having fun with the day lilies, while accompanied by intermittent misty sprinkles. I also worked in the front with more mulch :) . We have some new mocking birds in the neighborhood again, finally!!!

For my goal I am going to continue to focus on exercise of one sort or another at least 5 days a week, while paying attention to the kind, as well as how long (minutes) I have exercised during that day or week. Yard work, for example, I consider as exercise for me.

    Walking with a smile,

Well my plan of walking outside this AM was blocked due to construction in my walking path and then it started to rain. Will have to try again later.

Well, I tried and got about half a mile before the lighting and thunder came in. Guess it wasn't my day to walk outside. On the bright side, tonight I came upon a newly born baby cow. Mamma was still cleaning the calf off when I walked up and I also saw a baby bunny at the end of the walk.

For May I am going to continue with committing to doing some form of exercise 5 days a week.

5/2 .... 28 minutes strength workout; Strength & Stamina by Kelly Coffee-Meyer. Also 33 minutes of Cardio for Beginners of by Petra Kolber. It's an old workout, 2008 I think, but still fun. I think it really rates intermediate instead of beginner. At least I think so, ha-ha. :o

Deeder, How neat about the calf and the bunny!

@Deeder522 I love baby animals! What a nice surprise for you to get to see them tonight.

Tonight: Walk Slim: 4 Fast Miles

I may be switching my exercise to mornings soon because my house is getting too warm with the sun during the day. But first I'll have to rearrange my sleep patterns and get to bed earlier to get up earlier. So much planning!

I have slacked off for so long, just the idea of working out leaves me out of breath :( I am setting a May goal of one mile per day, or 31 miles for the month.

1.75 mile walk this AM & PM! That's a 3.5-mile walk combined and over 13,800 steps for the day.
I've walked every day this week. I really want to be lazy tomorrow but I know I need to keep going. Walk, Walk, Walk.
