Left it a bit late to join...

Hi, I feel a bit like I’m joining under false pretences, since I currently weigh 165 lb...!

In my defence, I did weigh 385 before I started what I call ‘The New Regime’. I’m 41 years old, and had been morbidly obese since I was about 12. I still have all the thought patterns and assumptions of my previous life, and I think it’s going to be A While before I can unpick them; being ‘the fattest one’ has always been intimately bound into my self-image.

So can I stay? Please?

Absolutely! I feel your pain on fighting that self image. I maintain that if you spend any length of time at a weight such as yours (and mine!) that the mindset tends to stay with you. It's such a struggle. I've maintain a 40 pound loss for 6 years, but it had been 40 more - and I regained due to some setbacks... But I'm still healthier than I was even at lower weights, so I'm proud.

This group isn't super active at present, but I'm happy to help bring it back somewhat! (hugs)
