Good morning gentlemen.
Up early, again. Couldn't sleep past 3:30. Five hours seems to be my limit, lately.
Going to be another warm day - high 80s - in Tumwater. That is unusually warm for May. Really beautiful, though. The rhododendrons are near their peak, along with azalias and countless annuals and perenials.
Plan for a little shop time, today. Baby steps.
Have a great day.0 -
Mornin' gents.
Can't wait for the rhododendrons to flower...should be soon. Azaleas are currently in bloom.
Our pear tree is in bloom. I'm actually taking care of it and doing some mild spraying to see if I can improve the quality of the pear harvest this year. A late frost during bloom last year pretty much killed production, but the year before we had lots of pears but they had lots of disease. So I started with a good pruning back in early March and plan on treating with an assortment of fruit tree sprays.

Harvested enough snap peas for a stir fry veggie treat last night. Off for walk. Hot today.0

Wild leeks coming up here. DD & hubby make Leek and Potato soup in spring. Nice weather here... 50 this morning, but 70 coming this afternoon. New England springtime.
Making dried camping recipes for upcoming season. Simple meals in a sealed bag, just add water and cook. Sampling parmesan grits with bacon bits this morning. Only have to bring a pot and spoon for most meals, less dish washing. Dried food packs light and compact.0 -
Good Morning! Off to PT in an hour or so and then home to take out a dead rose tree in a large container and replant with a new bush I purchased for DW for Mother's Day. Roses are all in full bloom here.

Woo hoo! Just spent 2 hours on the lathe and turned a pretty little bowl from a crotch piece of hazelnut (that's the place where the trunk of the tree splits, or a major branch sticks out.) Reall pretty figure in the wood. Hand was starting to ache, so I knocked off. Still, this is the first time in a long while, that I have turned a bowl, from start to finish. DW is out mowing the lawn, before it gets too warm, this afternoon. Then I'll take her on our weekly casino run.0
