Thinking of switching from my trusty Garmin 220 to a Fenix. Anyone have this particular watch? Thinking it would be better at tracking my swimming and cycling sessions too.

I have the 3hr, but know nothing of the 220 for comparison. I've got a foot pod and the bike sensors, but have not started biking yet (might this week) so I don't know what the bike sensor will tell me. I've had mine since Christmas and like it. I got the Sapphire lens as I'm pretty rough on things.

Overall I like it, but it is big. As big as the 5x, but a lot less money. Only thing it won't talk to is the new running pod.

I recently switched from the 630 to the Fenix 5x. IMO, both will track equally. The difference is the additional features of the Fenix line (maps, altimeter, etc). If those are features you will use, go for it. In my case, I had 2 main reasons to switch. First, I hated the touch screen on the 630. After 2 years I was ready to smash it. And second, I wanted maps with turn by turn directions. An added bonus that I didn't consider was the 5x's screen was just big enough that my nearly 50 year old eyes could actually see it.

I have no input on the Fenix, but I recently upgraded from the 220 to the 735XT. I had always felt that the 220 was sufficient for my needs, but the optical HRM on the 735XT was my biggest motivation for switching. Now that I have the 735XT, all of the additional features have solidified my decision to switch.

I made the switch from the 220.to the Fénix 3HR. You will notice the increase in mass. The wrist HR is great, although I've heard a lot about lag time compared to using a strap. This doesn't bother me because I mostly use HR for post workout analysis and excuse making. All in all, it's a great watch and there are screaming deals on the 3HR, now that the 5 is out. I love the navigation tools, and all the customising options.

I only use it for running and hiking, because I have a Wahoo bike computer that is better for that purpose.

This is my 5th Garmin watch, FYI, and I like it the best. I wear it all the time.

@Vladimirnapkin thanks! I suspect I will buy it. :) the size won't bother me - I want to be able to read the screen quickly, especially if I'm running with my horrible eyes haha

The 5x has a somewhat better screen. But I'm 53 and have no issue with the 3HR.

    Did you buy it?

I went from a 225 to a Fenix 5 last year. So happy I did!
