June (2018)
WELCOME to all walkers!
Oh my, June is here already !! It seems unbelievable that we are almost halfway through the year. It is time to start a another new monthly challenge! Summer fun will be here which means there will be new ways and places to walk!
Having Leslie's, or other walking DVDs, to pop in the player continues to be a great alternative to walking outdoors. Because of the warmer weather walking or hiking outdoors will be a pleasant alternative to the DVDs for those who enjoy getting their miles, minutes, or steps outdoors. Especially after the long winter or extra rain. But for those of us who are looking at triple digit temperatures already, having the DVDs is truly a blessing as well as survival during a drought or heat waves coming our way.
This group is open to any and all walkers. The majority of us use Leslie Sansone Walk At Home DVD workouts, as well as those great walks or hikes outside on the trails or pathways that are available to us, or a walk in our neighborhood, and on the treadmill, as well as other Walking DVDs. Of course a walk on the beach would be awesome!
All of these many options count toward our miles, minutes, or steps.
However you get your walk in, come on in and join us! Post your miles, minutes, or steps that you have walked, however you did it... it is all good!
We are a happy, supportive group, and I promise that joining this walk challenge will motivate, challenge, as well as inspire you!
Set your goal for how many miles, minutes, or steps that you want to walk, indoors or out, this month. This is your own personal goal . Post your results daily, weekly, or whenever you like.
If you find this challenge in the middle of the month it doesn't matter which day of the month that you join in. Just set your goals to reflect how much that you want to walk, or even how you walk, for the remaining days in the month. You are always welcome !
So, if you are new to the group please feel free to start today so that by the end of the month you will be that much closer to your health goals. It is never too late to join in. Today is always a good day for a walk!
It is always fun to read which DVD, whether Leslie or another instructor, that you used. Or whatever form your walk took, whether outdoors or on the treadmill or anything in between. Or even what form of exercise your did instead of a 'walk' today. Because....
...it doesn't always have to be a walk . It is summer and many different exercise opportunities are right around the corner. Gardening or yard work, strength training, a game of tennis with a friend, playing in a park or at a playground with our children or grandchildren, or even some heavy duty cleaning all counts as exercise. Post those times as well if you care to. We all could use some new ideas or inspiration. .
Let us get ready for walking the Monthly Walk Challenge together. I want to say again, that I am truly grateful for each one of our walkers who continue to inspire and motivate one another mile by mile, and step by step, each and every month.
I know that we are all excited to see our long time faithful walking friends join us for yet another amazing month together, and we are awaiting the opportunity to welcome newcomers to this month's Walk Challenge!
And now... let us lace up those walking shoes and get our water... and walk, walk, walk into June!

Good morning! I am new to the site and new to the group.
I'd like to join this months challenge. I am going to aim to do the daily walk from the app as well as other walking outdoors. I track steps using my fitbit so I will just set my target in steps if that is okay.
So my target for June is 350,000 steps in total. That should keep me busy2 -
Welcome @Totoro4567, Glad you found us.
I just made my mileage goal last month. So I think I'll throttle back just a bit to 105 Miles. Still trying to get my outdoor walk in at the park in the morning but I'll start to bike up the mile there & back as well.
My Apple Watch challenge is to close my 'stand" ring 28 times this month.2 -
Well done on last month! I'm curious, what is the Apple watch stand ring?0
-
Welcome Totoro4567! Glad you will be walking with us.
Deeder522 - WTG!
I haven't made up my mind yet what goal I'm going to set for June. So, I'm going to post todays workout and think about it. Happy Friday, All!
6/1.... Walk Off Weight Debbie Rocker 33 minute walking workout.

With the Apple Watch, you have 3 Activity Goals each day. Move, Exercise, and Stand. You can see below My Move Ring ( RED) is set for 350 calories. Exercise ( GREEN) is set for 30 min. Stand (BLUE) is for 12 times.

Love it Deeder522! I've never seen one of those before, great way of breaking it down and making it visual.
I did the daily walk, classic 1 mile with Nick this morning. I wanted the like him but much prefer Leslie. Lots of walking, housework and gardening took me over 11k steps or 5 miles. Enjoyed the extra calories!
Hope you're all having a good day x3 -
Hello Walkers! I am in and my goal for June is 100 miles. WIth that said...I am on day 5 of resting my foot. I will attempt to wear shoes for the first time tomorrow. I injured my foot on the golf course. Tee time 8 am...fingers crossed I can golf.3

I'm in! My goal is to walk at least 1 mile per day. I'm really trying to get back into the routine of walking a little bit every day for the month of June. Best wishes to everyone!!☺4

Welcome new walkers and friends!
Hope your foot is back to normal in quick time @PinkyPan1!
I'm setting my goal at 100 miles this month.
Going on vacation soon, just for 6 days, but those days will be difficult to get the walks in because I'm staying in a big cabin with family and friends. Not sure I can convince others to do the DVDs with me, but I would love it and will try!

I like this livingandlovinglife :-) Consistency is something I struggle with too. I seem to have bursts of enthusiasm then run out of steam.0 -

'm late to the party! Goal for June is 1200 minutes for the month. Started with 25 minute fast walk waiting for tire change on Saturday and 90 minutes of intense gardening Sunday.
June total = 110/1200 for the month.
Welcome to the newbies and good May work to all returners! Have a great walking week. Take care, Cathy B.

6/4 Zumba today, I want to rotate my video's. I reach 5k steps before the video ended, but I'm not sure if I will benefit as much as when I do the dance to the hits by LS. HIIT.
When I do the HIIT training I tend to lose weight which is my goal.
Any thoughts or words of wisdom from anyone????

Good morning! I have just recently been able to start back up with my walking. Due to health issues I have to try and not overdo it as I have been known to do. Learning to listen to my body and slow down as necessary. I’m going to set a June goal of 90 miles and hopefully I can surpass that.
