Hi all,
I was dx'ed with fibro about 5 years ago. I also have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and degenerative disc disease (why is it we always have the laundry list? It's almost never "just fibro"). I'm a teacher and I had to cut back to 60% time since the diagnosis - I now work about 35-40 hours a week (which IS about 60% of what I had been working).
I joined MFP right after I got my new FitBit (for Mother's Day - I have an almost 20-year-old son and an 18-year-old son who is autistic and non-verbal). Since my diagnosis, I have gained about 45 pounds, which I'm looking to take off - although my primary goal isn't so much about weight but about size and feeling better.
My pain has gotten better over time (I've been able to reduce my pain med dose by over half and still function) but the fatigue and fibro-fog are killing me...Especially during this last month of the school year - it's like the "push" of the last 9 months is finally too much and I'm just metaphorically crawling to the end of the year. I don't feel like doing ANYTHING right now. I have stacks of papers to grade (English teacher), but as you can imagine, the last thing my fibro brain wants to do is read and provide coherent, constructive feedback, and that's really stressful because I still have to get it done. I know sometimes that watching / reading about other people being motivated can help to motivate me / push me, so I came here.
Anyway, since I'm new to MFP (and I don't do "social media", I have no idea how that whole "friending" process works...but if someone explains it to me I'd be happy to be peoples' friend and to have friends
