Hi there Cysters (love that),

It's great to be here. My name is Alison and I have PCOS. I've also had a hysterectomy (twice, it's quite a story) and gastric bypass. I take spiro (yes does help a bit) and an anti depressant (would like to try getting off of it but need to talk to my Dr. first). My diagnosis was a full on battle. I have hirtuism, leaky veins that are causing painful varicose veins, memory loss... Probably more but I am not defined by any of it.

Last year I did a tough mountain challenge. This year I might do a 5K. We adopted a 12 year old boy this past February so I am now a mom. I like to walk, hike, ride bikes, fish, read, watch movies, cook. Laugh A LOT. Travel. Learn... Oh and I do enjoy cheese. I eat wheat. I eat a lot of chicken and salad. And I drink wine...

As far as I know we only do this life once. As hard as it was to go through everything I am not going to give up what I enjoy. I can limit, I can opt out for a while and I can certainly try new things to help balance my hormones but if it's not working I am going to move on.

If you have any questions reach out, I know some stuff and if I can help someone out that would make me feel great. ~Alison

Have you tried the eating carrots thing to level out the hormones?

I'm glad you've gotten to a good place overall... And as far as antidepressants, if you're okayed to get off them, I'd personally look into temporary or permanent amino acid therapy (neurotransmitters).

    Welcome.
