"Dennis, my HP laptop is as slow as a turtle going backwards. Any tips?"
Mary, From a hardware perspective the best way to speed up a PC is add more memory. If you have less than 8gb more memory will help.
If the PC was running okay but has slowed down over time it is probably software related. All the apps want to tune and configure things to their own best interests and they start clobbering each other. That was the case with the PC I am working on now. You can 'Reset' the PC and basically put the operating system back into it's original configuration like the day it was new. It is surprising how many problems that will fix. You'll want to back your data up and make sure you have discs or at least license keys for any paid for apps you have. I am not a fan of McAfee or Nortin ant-virus programs either. That typically want to do too much and and eat up resouces. I personally use the Windows Defender that is built into the operating system in conjunction with Malwarebytes. Let me know if you want to talk more.
